Movie Reviews of Follow That DreamMovie Review: good old fashioned fun Summary: 3 Stars
This is one of my favorite Elvis movies. It has a good storyline. E;vis does more acting and less singing for the girls. It's just fun to sit down and watch.
Movie Review: Great movie. Lousy MGM cost cutting Summary: 2 Stars
This is one of my favorite Presley films, one I have been looking forward to getting on DVD. Now MGM has produced the disc, but sadly made the cost-cutting decision to revert to the bad old days of non-anamorphic widescreen. For those of you not familiar with what this means, it means after you get a widescreen TV, this DVD will give you 33% less vertical resolution than would an enhanced (anamorphic widescreen) DVD. I.e., a relatively lousy picture. Shame on you, MGM.
Movie Review: Only 2 stars because it's not Anamorphic Summary: 2 Stars
There are a lot of complaints from people who thought this DVD would not be widescreen, however,no one has mentioned it is not Enhanced For Widescreen T.V.'s. MGM is releasing a lot of films this way to save money. If this bothers you as it does me then send an email to MGM. I really like this movie but am very disappointed with the format. When you have a widescreen T.V. in the future you'll curse MGM.
Movie Review: Why not WIDE-SCREEN ????? (REVISED) Summary: 1 Stars
I am revising my review. Once I realized this DVD was in widescreen, I immediately purchased it! This movie was even better than I remembered it (although my favorite ELVIS films are not yet on DVD, a couple - including "It Happened At The World's Fair, the first ELVIS film I ever saw, and so it has a special sentimental place in my heart - are on their way this August).I own most of the ELVIS films that have been released on DVD. Especially the ones from the 60's. And I am a fan of this film, "Follow That Dream". I really enjoyed the humor. And I enjoy seeing ELVIS play a likeable character (one without a rather forced chip on his shoulder). A character that, on the surface seems ignorant and uneducated - but who has a certain common sense and wisdom that one doesn't learn in school. Especially as his character gets the better of those who underestimated him! To whom it may concern at the studio releasing this DVD: Thank you for releasing this DVD in widescreen. I wrote my original review because I thought this was being released pan/scan only. And I only purchase DVDs that include the widescreen version. I do not yet have a widescreen TV, but in the meantime at least I am seeing the entire film, even if it only used part of the TV screen. To me, that is the most important thing - to see the film as it was intended to be seen - and as it was shown in the theatres - WIDESCREEN.
Movie Review: MGM doesn't care about "Follow That Dream: Summary: 1 Stars
I have been waiting for this movie to be released since DVD was introduced. However, I am very disappointed as this new release of the film is widescreen but not anamorphic. What is MGM thinking? The answer is they are not thinking at all. They just don't care.Great movie, lously presentation by MGM.
