I was a child when I first saw the movie and I enjoyed it. I read the series as an adult, then watched the movie again as an adult (after reading the series)....HUGE DIFFERENCE. This movie is a terrible adaption of the book. I have tried to convince friends of mine to read the book, but they refuse because they saw the movie and hated it so much, they can't imagine the book being any better. So please, take my advice, if you MUST see this movie, do yourself a favor and read the book first. If you watch the movie first, you may be discouraged from reading a very, very good book.
