Movie Reviews of Flight of the Navigator

Movie Review: A movie, every kid has to see..21 now, still brings me back!
Summary: 5 Stars

I just finished watching the end half of FLIGHT OF THE NAVIGATOR on the Family Channel a few days ago... its the first time I've seen this great movie in years. When I was a kid age 3-7, I swear I must have made everyone in the household watch this movie like 100 times, this was probably one of my favorite movies next to Neverending story,Neverending story 2:The Next Chapter, The Witches, Willy Wonka, Goonies, Pee-Wee's big Adventure, Mannaquin, and Ghostbusters, ect.... Now I'm about to turn 21, and not too long ago when I got my tax return back I was walking around the video store and randomly out of impulse bought Neverending Story and Neverending Story 2: The Next Chapter, along with some other DVD's. To be honest I really expected that I just wasted money on a kid's film but it turns out they weren't that bad watching it so many years later and I'm actually glad I added it to my DVD collection. I'm thinking about doing the same for FLIGHT OF THE NAVIGATOR.
I think its hilarious because it was so long ago that I was an innocent little kid and now my entire movie collection consists of some of the most revolting horror films ever put on the big screen,(I'm a big Lucio Fulci/George A Romero/horror movie, gorehound. I've been waiting ever since I first saw Day of the Dead, for Romero to bring some closure to the Dead trilogy and now in 3 weeks Land of the Dead is finally hitting theaters June 25th!!)
So every time I look at my collection all I see is:(Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2:Dead by Dawn, Night of the Living Dead, *NEVERENDING STORY*,*NEVERENDING STORY 2*,Faces of Death... and now Death,Death,*FLIGHT OF THE NAVIGATOR*... but its all good, my friends always laugh when they look at my collection... Every once in awhile, I like to reminisce back to those times of innocence and purity.
I apologize if this review is too general, but bottom line, I think every kid should watch this movie and embrace it like I did when I was that age, its one of those rare family movies like the Goonies that can still be appreciated 20 years later. Its amazing how well it still holds up and how amazing some of the visuals are in this movie. I personally believe that when someone is really young, its very important to expose them to quality films and books that are deeply vivid, and imaginative, granted that they are G-PG rated, because as an artist I've notice that innocence is a catalyst for creativity, and open-mindedness,and open-mindedness is a cataylst for real wisdom, and sadly thats something that too many people loose when they grow up. I loved Flight of the Navigator soo much when I was younger when things were simple and if I have a kid that will probably be one of the first movies I put on for him to watch. Its like my friend just told me the other day; no matter what it is some movies just stick with you even when you get older, whether its bad or good you'll always have a soft spot for it in your heart.
