Movie Reviews of Five Savage MenMovie Review: Good Idea, Bad execution Summary: 3 Stars
This Death Wish style western had a good Idea. A white women raped and left for dead by a group of bandits is nursed back to health by an Indian and he helps her exact revenge. Michelle Carey is gorgeous, and the rape scene was chilling without being overly graphic. I especially liked the five-point bondage-spread eagled naked on the ground, with each wrist and ankle tied tightly to a stake driven into the ground, and her hair tied to a fifth one for good measure. Keenan Wynn sadistically laughing "What for?" "Leave her like that." when a fellow bandit asks if he should untie her before they leave lets you know that some serious revenge is to come. A great beginning, but here it crashes and burns! Way too many scenes of her unconcious, and the Indian taking care of her. Yeah she was brutally raped, but in reality, she'd have been up and around in a couple days. The movie makes it look like she was out for weeks! Plus the Indian had no dialogue. They should have made him a half-breed "Billy Jack" type. Then they could made the relationship stronger, and more poignant. Plus, why would she go insane after killing her tormentors? And why wouldn't she tell the posse he was her friend? Or why didn't she kill herself after the posse killed her only friend in the world? Could have been a more badass "Hannie Caulder" , but they screwed it up. Keith
