Movie Reviews of FitzcarraldoMovie Review: Werner Herzog's Fitzcarraldo is an extraordinary experience. Summary: 5 Stars
Fitzcarraldo seems to have it all, from an interesting plot and fully rendered characterizations to consummate filmmaking and outstanding extra content. Make no mistake; this is an art film and may not be to everyone's liking. That being said I feel that every movie fan who approaches Fitzcarraldo with an open mind and allows him/herself to be drawn into the film should find it very rewarding. This is definitely one for the collection.
Movie Review: The Folly of Man Summary: 5 Stars
This is a beautifully orchestrated tale about the delightful absurdity in all human endeavor. It is also a story of cross-cultural misunderstanding of the highest order. Kinsky was a madman in the film and in real life and therefore perfect for the part. The scene of the steam ship spinning out of control in that waterfall is one of the memorable in the history of the cinema. The cinematography and editing are a masterpiece. Unforgettable.
Movie Review: Fantastic film! Summary: 5 Stars
Wow! This is one of the best films I have seen in a long time. I skipped it when it first came out because I thought it sounded like some kind of spin-off of "Aguirre," which it is not. It was mesmerizing from beginning to end. The DVD is well worth buying, including a full-length interview commentary with Herzog. The scene of Fitzcarraldo playing his Caruso recording to calm the natives is one of my favorite movie images ever.
Movie Review: The Will to Power Summary: 5 Stars
The combination of Herzog and Kinski is a taste to be aquired by most, with the exception of those few, -who unabated- recognize genius and bold experimentation. WERNER HERZOG SETS PRECIDENTS IN FILMAKING. Guided by a visionary instinct, intuition and the keen sense in providing Klaus Kinski with the best cathartic circumstances to express his beatiful/terrible -ineffable worlds of mania- for all of us to vicariously savor.
Movie Review: A very beautiful film Summary: 5 Stars
Fitzcarraldo deserves to be seen on the big screen. It is a very beautiful film. It has a time of its own. It's a type of film to be immersed in fully without interruption. Different cultures interact on the river in a way that is unusual and interesting. The transport of the boat overland is a classic. DVD is another chance to experience this wonderful film.
