Movie Reviews of Fierce CreaturesMovie Review: Better than Wanda Summary: 5 Stars
If A Fish Called Wanda was the UK's best comedy of the 80's, then Fierce Creatures, created by the same brilliant minds and staring many of the same actors, should be the UK's best comedy of the century. I loved this corny, slapstick comedy, featuring John Cleese, Kevin Klien, and Jamie Lee Curits, as well as many other comic geniuses like Monty Python's Michael Palin. It takes what was great in Wanda, even with a rather blatant refernece to the same, without what caused the rating of R in Wanda. This is a great fun bowl of Cheap Laughs (a bit of a call back to the Flying Circus series, for those sillies who don't recognize it) for the whole family!
Movie Review: Re-release is still in pan and scan!!!!!!! Summary: 5 Stars
After being out of print for a while, Fierce Creatures was finally re-released on June 1, 2010. However, Universal has ignored what the fans want! Instead of the re-release being in widescreen, it is still in pan and scan!! I give the film 5 stars because it is hilarious. I wish we could rate both the film itself, and separately, the studio releasing it. Universal gets a minus 10 stars for releasing this marvelous film in pan and scan. I am glad that I did not get rid of my laser disc of this title. At least it is in wide screen. UNIVERSAL...WAKE UP AND START USING YOUR BRAINS. FIERCE CREATURES DESERVES A WIDE SCREEN BLU RAY RELEASE.
Movie Review: Fierce Creatures is Fiercly Funny! Summary: 5 Stars
Monty Python fans will really appreciate the brilliant comedic performance by John Cleese. Joining him are "A Fish Called Wanda" castmates Jamie Lee Curtis and Kevin Kline. This is insanely clever, full of inuendos and ironic twists that will make you laugh and laugh and laugh some more. This is my familie's favorite flick ( my children are 17 and 19) and a real sleeper because no one seems to know about it. Kevin Kline fans will love his duel role as both father and son. The whole zoo business makes it even funnier. Fans of English humor with simply love this movie.
Movie Review: Funny Movie Summary: 5 Stars
Fierce Creatures is the sequel to A Fish Named Wanda. The same incredible funny cast are put together in a story about a zoo keeper and other zoo personnel trying to save the zoo from closing. An eccentric billionaire sends his son (Kevin Kline) and a corporate manager (Jamie Lee Curtis) to see if the zoo can make a 20% profit or else it will be closed down. John Cleese is a scream as the zoo's manager. The cast are great together and the animal humor is too much fun. If you liked a Fish Called Wanda, you will love Fierce Creatures. This movie Will make you laugh.
Movie Review: Apparently, a minority opinion Summary: 5 Stars
Unlike others, I liked this much more than "A Fish Called Wanda". I can't really say why - all the principal actors are the same. Perhaps it's just that it's not as edgy as "Wanda" and I'm a sucker for a comedy with a streak of sweetness. Michael Palin was funnier in Wanda, but Kevin Kline's dual role here is suitably smarmy and villainous without going as far over the top as I felt he did in "Wanda". Jamie Lee Curtis is good in both, but John Cleese really won me over with his hapless charm as the wannabe corporate exec with a heart of gold.
