Movie Reviews of Feast of Love

Movie Review: A pleasant romance
Summary: 4 Stars

I have read that this was a difficult book to adapt for the screen since the book was written from many points of view. I think Benton did a good job, as it seems to flow effortlessly from one character to the next, tied together by Morgan Freeman's narration.

This romance is a story of love and loss, and is somewhat predictable and contrived.... but it still provides a couple of hours of viewing enjoyment. Some of it is depressing, as it depicts the ups and downs of love, but it also has moments of great tenderness. I also thought the acting was very good and look forward to seeing some of the new (to me) faces in other roles in the future.

Movie Review: Do we truly see the person we love?
Summary: 4 Stars

This underrated movie has an excellent cast and asks us viewers if we truly listen to the people we love, or think we love, or we see them for what we want them to be and not much else.

The plot is intelligent and not at all as unrealistic as some of the more critical reviewers find it. If we allow ourselves a bit of self reflection we can see ourselves and our own good and bad choices in many of the characters and their choices in the movie.

And if we are lucky enough to see this early enough we might even be able to avoid a few more blunders going forward.

Movie Review: Special film full of love
Summary: 4 Stars

I really enjoyed this film. I had never heard of it before, but I noticed that Morgan Freeman and Greg Kinnear were in it so I gave it a whirl. And what a delight to watch such a wonderful movie. Thoughtful and warm films like this don't come along every day.

Robert Benton directs "A Feast of Love", which is based on Charles Baster's novel, and he does it with such skill and grace.
The actors give all around splendid performances, especially Alexa Davalos, Morgan Freeman, Greg Kinnear, and Radha Mitchell.

This one is definitely a keeper.

Movie Review: Great Movie
Summary: 4 Stars

We bought the movie primarily because it was filmed in Portland, and the house that was purchased by the young couple was the house I grew up in. It was especially nice seeing the neighborhoods again, and especially the house. Morgan Freeman was great as ususal, I always enjoy his movies, and the theme of the movie was also great. I'm sorry it didn't make a bigger splash in theatre's. As far as the purchase goes, the original shipment was an empty box, but customer service corrected it in two days. Thanks

Movie Review: Feast For The Eyes
Summary: 4 Stars

Several domestic sub-plots follow our hero's main plot.

This is one of those rare films were every actress (individually) takes her clothes off "because the part called for it, and it was done in an artistic manner". Okay, whatever.

And, the plots on the whole, tend to be interesting.

Domestic drama is not my cup of tea, but you can't go wrong visually with this film.
