Movie Reviews of Feast of Love

Movie Review: A Rich, Beautiful and VERY Human Film
Summary: 5 Stars

A wonderful film about very human experiences...I don't think anyone can watch this film without identifying with some or even all of the characters...People trying to do the best they can as they cope with this very confusing yet wonderful thing we call LIFE...
Morgan Freeman shows how even the most wise and wonderful among us have problems that are so very difficult to sumount...Yet the marriage he and the wondeful Jane Alexander share shows that with the passage of time love even becomes more romantic.
I love the line..."God doesn't hate us. If he did he would not have made our hearts so strong"
I believe no one can watch this film without being a better and wiser person for having experienced it...
It shows great courage and wisdom in the face of tragedy...There are no villians here, only stuggling human beings trying to do the best they can....

Movie Review: Romantic, heart-rending and beautiful
Summary: 5 Stars

This film explores the love stories and relationships between different characters, and like a spider-web, they all have some connection with the retiring university lecturer, Harry Stevenson (Morgan Freeman). Using his wonderful, silky voice, Morgan Freeman's character relates the experiences of those around him.

Each character has a different story and the film appeals to different ages and backgrounds as well as covering different issues: drug-abuse, young-love, homosexuality and death. There are a lot of sex-scenes in the film (some of which are rather graphic), but they do not `reduce' the film, but add a layer of realism which enriches the story.

The mood of this film is romantic, heart-rending and beautiful. For me it comes highly recommended.

Movie Review: A film that stays with you long afterwards.
Summary: 5 Stars

This is, simply put, one of the most beautiful movies I have ever seen. The honesty and depth of the characters and the actors is amazing. The characters are multi-dimensional and feel real. Even the Morgan Freeman character has flaws and weaknesses and, with the exception of Chloe's father, even the "bad" characters are redeemed. And I appreciate that the love scenes are shown as they would actually happen in real life and not the sanitized way they are show in most Hollywood movies.

The real messages of this film to me are; 1)people can't control who they love or don't love and, 2)life changing events can happen right in front of you that you don't even see. Thinking about your own life in these ways can be profoundly transforming.

Movie Review: Pain and Joy of Love & Life portrayed most Beautifully and with Hope
Summary: 5 Stars

This is one of the best films I've seen in a very, very long time. It is filmed well and has a dynamite cast.

The plot is like an overview of "everyday lives" of people we can relate to.

There are some provocative themes in the film which are very emotionally confronting.

This movie is brutally real, truthful yet overwhelmingly inspiring.

This is one movie where there is more than meets the eyes.

It is about real world love

The characters are complex chillingly realistic and they can't be pigeonholed into "good" and "evil."

Anyone looking for an truthful account of love & relationships will not be failed by Feast of Love.

Movie Review: TERRIBLE TITLE....TERRIFIC FILM
Summary: 5 Stars

When I rented this film, I fully expected to see a light, breezy comedy of no particular consequence because of the cheesy sounding title. I couldn't believe the depth of this film, at times funny and other times heartbreaking, but ultimately with the message of renewal. One could only wish for a more lyrical title (like Robert Benton's "Places in the Heart"). It's akin to calling beautiful Diane Lane something like Thelma Krupp. Please don't let the cheeseball title discourage you from seeing this diamond of a movie.
