Movie Review: A movie that has a Good story and Scenes
Summary: 5 Stars
This movie did not do to well in the box office. I don't know why, it's very well done and it has one of the best directors/ actors (Tom Cruise, Nichole Kidman). Ron Howard directs this movie and he directed "Apollo 13", "Ransom", "Backdraft", and "The Paper" as well. Tom Cruise has a convincing Irish accent in this movie, much better than Brad Pitt(Devil's Own). The music is done by the famous composer: John Williams (Star Wars Trilogy, Indiana Jones movies, Jurassic Park). This movie, for some reason (I don't know why) reminds me of James Cameron's "Titanic". The story is very similiar, only there is no boat involved except the one shown when they arrive to America. The music at the end is very similar to one of "Titanic's" theme songs. An excellent DVD that should not be overlooked.Movie Review: A very good film!

Indeed we are talking of a very good movie. Of course from now on we should say a priori film of "Eyes Wide Shut" because I think that the latter movie is the end of Tom Cruise carreer! In "far and away" movie rich values are shown and the victory of good over evil, which is not what happens to recent movies. Kiddman in this movie tries to keep her clothes on I know that this must have been very hard for her but she succeeds! Tom cruise is a real hero and a worthy example to immitate. I wish they could stick to this kind of films at least Tom Cruise... for kiddman no comment... I think she should wait for the 22nd century to get an oscar award... I think she is a worthy opponent over Sharon Stones throne...Movie Review: The perfect romantic epic!!!

I can't believe how underrated this movie is! I never saw it because I had never really heard much about it, but when I finally saw it, I absolutely loved it, along with my whole family! I'm 20 year old girl, so obviously this is my kind of movie, but my brother loved it too because the script is so clever! This movie is hilarious, touching, incredibly romantic, and so beautiful!! The cinematography is astounding, the sets and the costumes are wonderful, and Tom and Nicole are perfect together. They have such great chemistry on screen! I have watched this movie again and again and it is one of my all-time favorites. I highly recommend this film! As many times as I have watched this, I had to give it 5 stars. As a romance, Tom and Nicole's characters actually hate each other a good part of the time, but they endure these hardships until they have a strong bond between them. Both strive to fulfill their dreams, taking us on a tour of old America as they go. We see some important US history laced within the story. Their journey is met with several heartfelt blows, but they keep picking up the pieces and going forward. The movie culminates with a little known event in US history, the Oklahoma land rush. Director Ron Howard's ancestor actually took part, though I believe I heard he didn't get to stake any claims.Movie Review: Sweet, Romantic Film

While certainly not a "great" film, "Far and Away" is sweet and very romantic.
The movie is entertaining, but don't expect to be intellectually stimulated. It's a somewhat interesting (although exaggerated and over-simplified) look at the American immigrant experience and a man's (or, in Nicole Kidman's case, a woman's) yearning for land to call one's own.
The scenery is beautiful, there are one or two very funny scenes, and the acting is not too bad.
The budding romance between the characters played by Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman is well done. If you're looking for a romantic, memorable chick-flick, "Far and Away" is a good choice.
