Movie Reviews of Fantasia 2000Movie Review: a collectors' item Summary: 5 Stars
If your home theater is fully set up with either Dolby Digital (DD) or DTS, you should definitely consider getting this DVD. Whether you like Fantasia as a movie or not, you should still consider getting this DVD--it will push your audio/visual system to its limit. I usually don't listen to classical music, but, listening to Fantasia with digital surround sound (DD or DTS) is an experience. It is unlike listening to a classical CD on your stereo. The difference is almost like as if you are in the orchestra instead of in the audience. Other than the amazing soundtrack for your receiver, special features on this F2K are interesting. Artists/graphic artists will appreciate hearing the commentary from the art director.
Movie Review: Much more enjoyable than the dated original Summary: 5 Stars
As much as I enjoyed the original Fantasia, this new installment tops it. Fantasia 2000 is much more bright, entertaining, and re-watchable. 2000 prefers upbeat and even humorous animation to the slow and often gloomy sequences that saturated the original. The vibrant colors and dramatic song intros are welcome and significant improvements over the dark animation and dry, dull silhouettes of the first. The animation matches the music to a much greater level of detail, offers drama and humor, and does not demand nearly as much patience. The Sorcerer's Apprentice is really the only piece that could stand up to Fantasia 2000's selection, and even this classic reveals the weaknesses of the original Fantasia.
Movie Review: See this film! Donald is NOT Noah... Summary: 5 Stars
First of all, don't listen to the reviews that say this is a copycat version of the original. This is a much better film than the original Fantasia. Also, Donald Duck is NOT Noah in the pomp and circumstance section. He's the male duck on board the ark who believes that his female counterpart Daisy did not make it onto the ship, only to discover that she did when they both exit. Noah is briefly seen calling the animals to the ark. Some people pretend to be able to review film because they feel good about expressing their opinions, but when such erroneous conclusions are made, you cannot take their word for anything. So,...take my word for it. See this movie!
Movie Review: My Favorite Fantasia Summary: 5 Stars
It really is my favorite of the 2 Fantasia films. Produced by Walt Disney Pictures, the animation isn't quite up to the standard of Walt Disney's original- after all, I could spot some cheating going on with the computer animation. However, this has fantastic music choices which really liven up Fantasia 2000. And with a shorter running time than Fantasia (which I fell asleep to while watching), this is seriously sweet stuff! The DVD special features compliment the film well. And if you're new to Fantasia and are looking to convert, I suggest you watch Fantasia 2000 first before watching Fantasia- just not back to back- cos boy will that be major siesta!
Movie Review: A new disney classic for the new age! Summary: 5 Stars
This brilliant follow-up to the 1940 Disney masterpiece " Fantasia" offers even more stories that beautifully blend state of the art animation, special effects and music to help build the movie. There are 5 different stories hosted by celebrities like James Earl Jones, Bette Midler, Steve Martin, Quincy Jones and Angela Lansbury. The stories are beautifully well animated and done all the way. The music scores of such popular artists like Beethoeven to Gershwen are simply excellent, the animated segments sometimes uses fine CGI and hand-drawn animation to suck you into the world of Fantasia. A must see movie and the DVD is great too!
