Movie Reviews of Fame

Movie Review: Love Doris and Ralph
Summary: 5 Stars

I just recently rewatched this movie and I forgot how wonderful it is. The characters grow within the 4 years they are in school.
I would have to say that my favorite character in this movie is Doris. Maureen Teefy gives an amazing performance as the shy but loveable Doris. At the begining she is unsure of herself and through out the film she gains confidence and finds comfort in the arms of Ralph. The other performances in the movie are just as great. Barry Miller gives a stunning performance as Ralph. And I love seeing Paul Mccrane as the sensitive one. The only complaint I have is that Doris and Ralph do not get back together. Their relationship is the best part of the movie. There has to be some scenes that were cut out in this movie. I wish Maureen Teefy would make more movies. She is one of my favorite actresses. I loved her in Grease 2 also. Thats my 2 cents worth:)If anyone wants to talk about this movie or musicals email me.

Movie Review: Great Flick
Summary: 5 Stars

Fame holds a special place in my heart because it was the movie the inspired me to strive for what I really wanted in life.

I'm glad to see the movie is finally out on DVD. I'm not too crazy about the "branching" commentary feature on this DVD.

Alan Parker's full length commentary is insightful but I was surprised that he erroneously states in his commentary that "Out Here On My Own" and not "Fame" was the song that took home the Oscar.

This is wrong! Did research on IMDB and even the Academy Awards official site and it is undoubtedly the film's theme song, "Fame" that walked away with the Oscar.

Even the director should have known that! LOL

Movie Review: brilliant masterpiece
Summary: 5 Stars

i challenge everyone who watches FAME to sit still throughout the piece. it is masterfully produced and directed. a 1980's new york school for the performing arts accepts new students and off they go, with us following them through their turbulent teens to graduation. at moments, you've gotta dance or sing along or cry or just think. a few years later, breakfast club came out and, while it, too, got the audience to think, "Fame" accomplishes to meld the emotive with aethereal, leaving you both excited and drained at the end. A+++. this is very highly recommended for purchase.

Movie Review: Still Great After All These Years!
Summary: 5 Stars

Although I LOVED this movie when I was in college, I wasn't sure if my high school drama students would get anything out of it because it is more than 25 years old. However, my students talked about the characters for days and really enjoyed the movie. It is still timely and fresh, and they could relate to the characters. They greatly enjoyed the music, too. I would recommend this movie to any performance student or to anyone with a passion for his or her career. It is still quite an inspirational movie.

Movie Review: fame rocks!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

i have had the soundtrack since i was in high school (now in college) and every time i hear it it gets better. my sister goes to a school just like that and i'm so jealous. why is this important? because its so realistic. not to mention they did such a good job in every aspect. it was the same music producer for both fame and footlose. irene cara is beautiful and has a voice no one can match. anyone who loves music and talent should go see this movie if they haven't yet.
