Movie Reviews of Exodus

Movie Review: Okay, but not up to book
Summary: 4 Stars

This story is both long and complex. Unfortunately, it is too long and complex for one full-length movie. The movie, overall does as good a job as can be done, for the excellent Leon Uris story.

As for acting, Paul Newman does an okay job. Eva Marie-Saint does her normal exceptional job, as well as the rest of the supporting cast. Cinematography has both great and bland areas, but this edition limits the great areas by not being wide-screen.

Overall, I recommend the movie, I just don't think it is 5-start caliber.

Movie Review: exodus
Summary: 4 Stars

I have always enjoyed this movie ever since I saw it in the city of Melbourne, at the Esquire theatre about thirty eight years ago. There is only one fault I can find and that is the print,so I ask that it might be remastered its original 70mm negative and 5.1 digital sound and of course 16.9 enhanced screen. The current print is in 4.3 and letterbox and it does not suit my new widescreen t.v So how about it M.G.M

Movie Review: Good history
Summary: 4 Stars

On the surface this is a history of the early days of the nation of Israel. Under the surface it is condemnation of several British officials who tried to sabotage the country. Pay attention to who says and does what. Keep in mind that it was standard British practice to set different factions against each other in a sort of divide and conquer method of ruling colonies. The division of Africa had this same problem promoting warring factions and genocide.

Movie Review: Pity About Saint
Summary: 4 Stars

Great movie. However the reason I rate it 4 stars and not 5 is because once again Eve Marie Saint wrecks a movie. She did the same in "Grand Prix".

I find her the most irritating actress alongside Kim Bassinger. She always looks out place.

Why Leon Uris even included a character such as hers is beyond me. Kitty is so foreign to the story of Exodus top begin with. Otto Preminger's casting of her is a mystery.

Movie Review: Exodus
Summary: 4 Stars

Compelling movie in light of recent news. The birth of Israel in the late 40's is still the cause of much conflict in the middle east. I recommend that a individual watch this movie with his heart and not solely on it's performance by the actors. There was a way of making movies back then that is not seen today. No CGI in this, just location scenes. A very watchable movie.
