Movie Reviews of Executive DecisionMovie Review: One of the best action thrillers of the 1990s Summary: 4 Stars
Just some thoughts...
I found Executive Decision (1996) to be an action-packed, suspenseful, on-the-edge-of-your-seat thriller that I feel is one of the best action movies of the 1990s. Kurt Russell was excellent in his role as David Grant, an Army intelligence consultant and a U.S. Naval Academy graduate. A lot of people were glad to see Steven Seagal killed off in this movie. Me, I don't care one way or the other. Halle Berry was lookin' good in her role as Jean, a stewardess. Marla Maples makes an appearance in this movie as well.
This movie came out five years before the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. I couldn't help but notice how this movie seems to almost be a semi-blueprint for that event. Maybe what I'm saying is that this movie was ever so slightly ahead of its time? Does life imitate art or does art imitate life?
If you like action movies that will keep you on the edge of your seat, then give this one a try. It's typical Hollywood, but it's worth watching.
Movie Review: Shocking with Disbelief Summary: 4 Stars
Great rescue mission! One comment. Should Americans reveal the whole world through this movie our strategies and secrets in countering terrorism on a hijacked airliner? More than a rated R movie, Executive Decision should be banned by viewers in parts of the world were terrorism is rampant. Nevertheless, the movie is entertaining and enjoyable because of the plot of the rescue is one of its kind especially the shocking landing of the ill 747 in a small community airport after series of explosions from collision to collision with small aircrafts. Nerve gas on board did not even react to the explosions after counter terrorists contained it. Seems that everyone on board survived the landing. A happy ending. And Halle Berry! hmmmm great eye shadow and mascara.
Movie Review: A haunting omen to the NYC disaster. Summary: 4 Stars
My attention was fixed to the TV like never before the first time I saw this come on cable. We need more films that can generate suspense as well as this did. But did they really have to have Kurt Russell's character get his foot stuck in that..."thing on the wall" near the end of the film? I think the movie producers could have come up with a better (and more believable) way to hinder him for the situation he was in. There goes the 5th star.
But, holy cow, did any movie foretell 9/11 better than this one? Airline security employees should have been made to watch this; maybe at least some of them would have believed an event like 9/11 was more probable and taken their job more seriously, preventing the disaster.
Movie Review: Very watchable movie Summary: 4 Stars
I am no longer using the VHS player to watch movies and now that after the WTC attacks IT REALLY EERILY parallels the the plot in this movie - I had to get the DVD!!In the real world the terrorists used the planes to attack us. In the movie the terrorists wanted to use the plane to attack DC but enough to take out the eastern seabord! In the real world, 4 planes were used to attack NY and DC! In the movie most of the terrorists were middle eastern and they had planned to go back to Algeria. In real life, Algeria is known to have state sponsored terrorists! In the movie, the terrorists were islamic radiacals. In real life they were!!
Movie Review: DON'T BE AFRAID BOYS, DADDY'S BACK ! Summary: 4 Stars
If AIR FORCE ONE deceived you as much as it deceived me, EXECUTIVE DECISION is the movie for you. Faster, less politically correct, it's a little pearl to add to your "action" DVD collection. And don't be afraid of the mention of the name of Steven SEAGAL in the credits ; the real star of the movie is Kurt RUSSELL. He becomes the new father of the anti-terrorist group after the departure of SEAGAL. Father is not an inadequate word : observe that the group desperately needs a Daddy to lead them. In fact, one of the boys curiously spend the whole movie lying in bed and weeping, just like a little baby. A DVD to buy if you're an action movie fan.
