Movie Reviews of Executive Action

Movie Review: Old news is good news
Summary: 4 Stars

It's about time this film finally gets to DVD. This is one of those that really qualifies as a golden oldie, and it's even more fun to watch now given the time that has passed and the scholarship that the Kennedy assassination has generated over the many years. This movie is the 1974 version of JFK. Given what they knew then and given what we know now, you can see just exactly how far we've come along the journey.
Also much like JFK, this movie has an all star cast of it's time starting with Lancaster and Robert Ryan down to some of the more recognizable character actors of the age such as Ed Lauter, Paul Carr and Walter Brooke to just name a few. The shooting part is a bit cheezy but what do you expect for 1974. Hope the disk gets a good treatment

Movie Review: Facts, not fiction
Summary: 4 Stars

This low budget film makes the plausible case that the assasination of JFK did not involve a huge government conspiracy or mafia involvement. It shows how just a handful of powerful people using "Black Operatives" could have pulled it off. The framing of Lee Harvey Oswald is also quite convincing. The one flaw in the movie is when the right wing power brokers say they can't find any evidence of JFK's sexual activities. That proves how well covered up his sexual trists were by the media at the time and well into the 1970s. This movie is well worth a look and using the most basic of facts makes a stunning case for conspiracy.

Movie Review: Considering When It Was made: Still Powerful
Summary: 4 Stars

This is one of those films that because of the importance of the subject matter, not to mention 2 of the greatest actors ever Lancaster and Ryan, giving the scenario of wealthy industrialists taking out JFK as depicted some authority, is better than the movie really is. I saw this one about 15 years ago and the production values and the way it was made- it looks like a tv episode from the early 70's and in no way can compare with the brilliantly photographed recreations in Stone's JFK. But, i'm glad it is finally coming on DVD, also as part of the Burt Lancaster Signature collection.

Movie Review: "Executive Action"
Summary: 4 Stars

The title "Executive Action", refers to 50's & 60's black operation terminology for a "santioned" assassination by the U.S. government (of the time). "Executive Action" is interesting & chilling. If your looking for a big Hollywood production you won't like it. If your looking for some insite into what people were thinking at the time you'll like it, and at only 91 minutes running time it is short and to the point. (when released in 1973 JFK hadn't been gone 10 years.) VERY interesting considering what has come to light in the intervening 35 years since the release. Buy it. ;)

an oldie but a goodie.. saw this movie for the first time in the 70's. a movie for conspiracy therorists on the Kennedy assasination. While I don't agree with the theory, (an oil company paid to have Kennedy assasinated) the movie is based on facts that severely question the Warren Commission. Since I have bought it, I have loaned it to about 4 people who all love it
