Movie Reviews of Evanescence - Anywhere But HomeMovie Review: The ultimate Evanescence package in one tiny box. Summary: 5 Stars
I've never been a big Evanescence fan, I've seen (And enjoyed) their videos and songs I've heard on the radio, but never felt the need to go out and buy their album.
Seeing this sitting there was too good of a deal to pass up.
The DVD is divided into 3 seperate sections, CONCERT, MUSIC VIDEOS, and BEHIND THE SCENES.
Each section of the DVD has a real elaborate DVD Menu interweaving them all together, and it does a good job, I just wish there were a way to skip them since some are quite lengthy after seeing them a few times, but not a big drawback at all.
Onto the sections, Clicking the CONCERT Button brings you to a menu with options to play the entire concert, or select a song from the menu (The tracklisting for the concert is: Haunted, Going Under, Taking over me, Everybody's fool, Thoughtless (korn cover), My last breath, Farther away, Breathe no more, My immortal, Bring me to life, Tourniquet, Imaginary, and Whisper).
The concert was filmed in Paris fairly recent I'm assuming. It's a great quality show, and it looks great on the DVD -- the lights really make a great impact. Often Music Video DVD's get a lousy treatment, this one really shines though.
Watching the concert, I really enjoyed every song on it (And the Korn cover was a real nice addition), it's been a long time since I've watched a concert DVD or bought a CD and liked every song (Often I end up skipping several to get to the select few I liked).
The concert runs for roughly an hour and is in Dolby 5.1 sound (Sounds great) or Stereo.
Onto the Music Video side, you get 4 video's (My Immortal (A black-and-white shot, slower-paced video that looks sort of like a commercial for Diamond's), Everybody's fool (A parody video showing the lead singer living life as a lie showing her in various positions selling products (Pizza's, a model, soda's, and all of the pain the lies bring, My favorite video on the DVD), Bring me to life (A real interesting video with the band performing in a high-up city with the camera's zipping around through various rooms, my 2nd favorite video on the DVD), and Going under (Which has a very dark gothic/horror feel throughout the video)). Again, like the Concert section, the video's also have a "Play All" option as well as being in Dolby 5.1 or Stereo sound. The 4 videos' run for probably 25 minutes total.
Finally, the Behind the Stage feature is presented as a whole-video, but also broken into sections you can jump directly to. Life on the Road shows the band going through their everyday lives, playing around backstage, and just having fun. Showtime shows setups for the stage during their shows, preperation for the concerts (Sound checks, meetings, etc.), as well as additional video footage of them performing across the country. Bloopers (As you might guess) is a collection of bloopers, mess-ups, and practical jokes on eachother, caught on tape. Finally, Evanescence Unleashed is similar to the first feature, just showing the band having fun with eachother. The behind the scenes section runs for an hour, and is only in Stereo.
The package also includes an Audio CD. The Audio CD is the entire "Concert" section of the DVD in Audio form which is really nice as well, to take on the go or just listen to without needing to put the DVD In (I wish more bands would do this).
Overall, its a great set and is available in 2 seperate packages (One comes in a CD Jewel case with the 2 disc's inside, the other in a DVD Case with the 2 disc's inside) depending on how you prefer your collection.
Overall, I would recommend this to any Evanescence fan, big or small. I immediately became a much bigger fan after seeing this.
