Movie Review: It's Official!!!

Finally one of the greatest movies of all time is getting the treatment it deserves.It's official. MGM has just announced the DVD release of John Carpenter's Escape from New York: Special Edition. The 2-disc set, due to street on 12/16... will include the film in anamorphic widescreen video, with Dolby Digital 5.1 audio and 2 feature-length audio commentaries, the 10-minute "bank robbery" opening scene (with commentary by John Carpenter and Kurt Russell), the Return to Escape from New York documentary (featuring new interviews), a featurette on the making of the John Carpenter's Snake Plissken Chronicles comic (along with a special edition issue of the comic itself), trailers, photo galleries and more. The packaging will be Digipak, enclosed in an embossed outer sleeve, with liner notes by Carpenter

Snake Plisskin is: daring, moving, funny. serioues, powerful etc in this slight sci fi action movie
great visuals
great acting
great scenery
great direction
great plot
seen this 8 times already on my dvd player
count on it being seen more
esepecially over the next 90 years
this movie shocks and rocks
the soundtrack theme at the beginning by John Carpenter is quite haunting and rocking at the same time
and it's slight readdition changes in the Escape from LA movie are even more techno like, scary, haunting, and rocking too

Movie Review: Escape to New York

Yet another gem from Carpenter. Donald Pleasance is the President in this film! Kurt Russel, a.k.a. Snake Plitskin, will blow your mind, and some scumbags away! The storyline is ingenious, the acting fine, and the soundtrack is great too. But there's a Debussy song in here! What the hell is there a Debussy song doing in this film? Well, it happens to be a great song and it works well with the scene when Snake is flying in the glider. .... Escape From New York is a great modern science-fiction film that was way ahead of its time when it came out in the early eighties. Check it out! One tip is to watch the film at night with the lights off- many of the scenes are lit very darkly, and that's the best way to see into them.
Movie Review: Top Ten of All Time

Escape From New York is in my top ten list of all-time favorite movies. It is also the movie that made me a hard core Kurt Russell and John Carpenter fan. I've watched it probably 100 times since the 80's and it never gets old. It was the first time I heard Kurt Russell use the f-bomb on screen and it was such a contrast from his "Mr. Disney" days.
Another thing about the movie is the music, scored by John Carpenter. I love it and outside of the Day The Earth Stood Still, is my favorite movie score of all time.
I could go on and on quoting lines, lines that I still use in everyday life. This is one great movie and I highly recommend it. Rock on Snake!
Movie Review: Ahead of it's time!

John Carpenter's "Escape From New York" movie was way ahead of it's time and is a much better script and story than "Escape From L.A." In the second movie or it's continuum, there was too much repetitive dialogue copied or borrowed from the 1st movie. Snake is always left behind by one of his fellow thieves in both films and same dialogue of threats are made from United States Police Force commanding officers towards Plissken. They broke the mold with "E.F.N.Y." film after it was released into theaters. Do they have a 'special featurettes' with the new dvd version of "Escape From New York"?
