Movie Review: 'Diary' More Erratic than 'Erotic'

One of the most irritating things about hard or soft porn is the pretension that some filmmakers feel they must inflict on their viewers. By this, I mean the use of effects such as soft focus, filters, slow motion and looping - all of which are in evidence here. The arty, Michael Ninn look usually leaves me cold. However, `The Erotic Diary of Misty Mundae', manages to be visually pleasing despite these gripes. Perhaps it's the familiarity of the Seduction Cinema ensemble gathered here. Given this film's style, I doubt that I'd have enjoyed it if it had featured a cast of unknowns.
What we have here is a cast of experienced actresses headed, of course, by the devastatingly beautiful Misty Mundae. Also on hand are Darian Caine, Anoushka, AJ Khan, Ruby LaRocca and an uncredited Julian Wells. There is no plot to speak of: this is really just a group of sex scenes held together by Misty's narration as she pens notes in her diary about her fantasies. The rest of the film has no other dialogue, only a music soundtrack.
Misty dons a succession of lingerie items and some mild fetish-wear. These include a bright red bustier, a translucent top with the word `bitch' written all over it (this top is also modeled by Darian in Darian Caine Exposed), thigh-length boots and similar shorts to those that she wore in Mummy Raider. Misty and Darian have a delightful pillow fight. Both girls are completely naked for this except for their high heels and any resultant feathers. There are some mild bondage scenarios: Anoushka's hands are tied above her head, AJ Khan prowls around mock-menacingly wielding a soft whip as Misty grinds her crotch into Anoushka's stockinged thigh. In another scene, Misty's hands are tied to the armrests on a chair as Darian . . . But no, I won't spoil it.
There are two scenes that do not feature Misty. The good news is that the wonderful Ruby LaRocca appears in both as she and Anoushka indulge in some nice nakedness. These two scenes were shot during the filming of The Lord of the G-Strings - The Femaleship of the String when bad weather hampered filming on that production.
The final scene is already-existing footage from Tony Marsiglia's excellent Dr. Jekyll and Mistress Hyde. This is the `school uniform scene' and the only difference to the scene as previously released is what happens to Misty's tie when she removes it . . .
The action unfolds in slow motion throughout except for the final scene and this may be a little annoying for some people. There is only one extra feature: a behind the scenes look at the Misty, AJ and Anoushka scene. There aren't even any trailers. However, the performances are excellent. This really is an erotic and sexy slice of soft-core entertainment. You should definitely see it if you're a fan of Misty Mundae, Darian Caine, Ruby LaRocca or Anoushka.
