Movie Reviews of Enigma: Seven Lives Many FacesMovie Review: Great Videos and high definition effects! Summary: 5 Stars
The videos here are amazing, with images extracted of cut-off from some original videos of Enigma (several pieces that we never have seen), and completelly new images recorded in high definition camera, bringing new effects and extremelly small images of water, fire, dust... a great video work!
Movie Review: 7 Lives CD Summary: 5 Stars
Great CD- also purchased the DVD. I am a huge fan of Inigma, and was not surprised that this collection was top notch.
Movie Review: The Best So Far Since "Remember The Future". Summary: 4 Stars
To all Enigma's fans - in my point of view, this latest music video from Enigma is the best so far since Remember The Future. If you look at the video and listen to the music, you can scent and feel right away that this is the true Enigma's work of art. Is very original and different from the earlier album even though some of the sound and music extract from some of its earlier music. But still as a whole, it makes you think that Enigma has done a great job. The only thing that this DVD does not have is the bonus music video from Disc 2 (Seven Lives Many Faces - Special Edition 2 CDs) which have great music like "Superficial" and "We Are Nature". That's the reason why I gave 4 stars out of 5 stars. Anyway, as I have said earlier, this is still the best music video from Enigma so far. Please take note that there is 1 music video which is inappropriate for children, and that is "Touchness" which have lesbian scene in it. Just like the music video from "Gravity of Love" and "Principle Of Lust". So parents, please be aware before you watch "Touchness". Thank you.
Movie Review: Not bad... could be better. Summary: 3 Stars
I'm an Enigma fan since the beginning, and always have appreciated the DVD releases. Generally, they compliment the albums in a unique fashion. In my opinion E1, E4 and E7 are the best Enigma albums- so naturally when E7 was released on DVD I was ecstatic! Once the DVD arrived I was a little disappointed- hardly any original content. The entire DVD was full of recycled clips from E1 - E4 music videos and the commentary from Michael Cretu was the exact same as the one I downloaded on iTunes when I purchased the album. At least the DVD wasnt an hour long kalidescope like the E6 DVD... but still, EMI and Virgin Records could have done much, much better.
Movie Review: Very disappointing Summary: 2 Stars
This is not a review of the music. Enigma's Seven Lives Many Faces is one of the project's best albums. The music is wonderful and atmospheric, as usual.
This video, however, falls short on just about every level. The utter laziness involved is astounding. Technically, it's like a VHS tape. The video is presented in widescreen, but it's not anamorphic. What that means is that if you own a widescreen TV, you're relegated to watching it in a small window in the center of the screen. The 5.1 Digital Surround Sound and DTS is a complete joke. It barely makes use of the rear surround speakers. It's basically an "enhanced stereo" presentation.
The videos themselves are a slap in the face to all fans. Roughly 70% of the videos consist of scenes from Enigma's early videos from the first four albums. Moreover, the clips even repeat themselves throughout this video (okay, so they added some cheesy visual filter this time). The remaining 30% is actually original, and those are the better ones (I really liked the video for "The Same Parents").
I got this DVD using a gift card, and I'm glad I didn't pay for it. To me, it lessens the majesty that Seven Lives Many Faces is. If Michael Cretu had produced original videos to this, like he did with the MCMXC a.D. video album, this could've been wonderful. Fans would already own MCMXC a.D. and Remember the Future DVD's, so this is in essence buying the same thing.
