Movie Review: Juan Gabriel at a Great Venue
Summary: 4 Stars
I have been a fan of Gabriel's melodic productions after living in Latin America for 11 years in the 80s and 90s. This is a good DVD and if you have ever been to the Palacio de Bellas Artes (Mexico City) you can appreciate how Gabriel holds his audience with big production, onstage appeal. When hundreds of fans get into a musicians performance it is hard to not ride along for the show. I am sure every female in the audience (especially the Latina ladies) knew every word to every song. This is a typically highly energetic performance by a master of melodic effect and enchanting lyrics. Gabriel, as I understand it, arranges his own stuff. It's good. I enjoy it. The Palacio venue is THE venue in Mexico. This DVD is a great way to transport yourself to the Palacio for two hours of very enjoyable music, a true "espectaculo," Spanish speaker or not.
