During the Movie you find out what Emma's feelings are tords a certain some one.

The olny flaw in this movie is it's in old English. Which is hard to follow at sometimes. If you can't fallow shakespeer at all, I suggest you find another movie.

Movie Review: The Ever Addicting Austen
Summary: 5 Stars

Austen DVD's hold an irresistible pull for me. I bet I can't watch just one. Although some adaptations are more appealing than others, I found the Paltrow version of Emma, a 19th century romantic British romp, delightful. Wonderful set decoration, costumes and lush scenery are a given. The remaining cast members (esp Toni Collete's Harriett)are the completion to a magical Austen film. Of course, I purchased one for a friend who is also taken with all things Jane. Marvellous! Highly recommend!

If you are a Jane-O-Phile these are my fave adaptations of some of her other works.
Sense & Sensibility (Special Edition) That garnered an Oscar (perhaps 2) for Emma Thompson and the ever drool worthy Colin Firth adaption of Jane's Pride and Prejudice [Blu-ray].

Enjoy Jane's wonderful works!

Movie Review: Suitable for the screen!
Summary: 5 Stars

I love this screen adaptation for Jane Austen's book Emma and I think Gwyneth Paltrow was great as Emma.

Yes she probably has come across as bing a little sweeter in temperment then Jane Austen intended but I still think this movie is basically faithful in spirit to the book and I totally recommend this lovely movie! Not only is Gwynneth absolutely beautiful and looks stunning in the costumes but her acting was great and I thought her English accent sounded good and before I saw this movie I didn't really know who she was but had seen commercials for her other movies in which she used English accents and before I saw hosting Saturday Night Live using her normal American accent I thought that she was actually from England and to be honest I think she sounds like my relatives who live in England so I definitely think her accent was fine!

This glorious movie is suitable for the screen!

Go get this DVD! That's my recomendation!

Movie Review: Very pleased with this adaptation
Summary: 5 Stars

I had only read "Emma" once several years ago so I don't remember all the details that one finds lacking in film adaptations. But I must say that I am very pleased with this adaptation of the book. I bought this movie on a whim last week---really knowing nothing about it. I really enjoyed the enitre movie from start to finish and have watched it several times since.

I think it is a "cute" story and Paltrow/Northam play a very likeable Emma/Knightley. Seeing this movie has motivated me to reread the book and although I'm not yet halfway through the book, I do find that quite a bit of the dialogue from the book is found in the movie and in general it follows the book pretty well.

This is an easy to watch, feel good, romantic movie. I liked all the characters, esp Sophie Thompson as Miss Bates. Certainly a great movie to watch on dreary days to lift your spirits. I would highly recommend this to any romantics at heart.

Movie Review: Clever Adaptation
Summary: 5 Stars

Emma, played by the refreshing Gwenyth Paltrow, is a young woman in high society who tries to use her wits and position to "help" those she cares about. While her intentions are pure, she often ends up being too clever for her own good. While her plans to secure her friends' happiness go awry, she finds she's left her own life considerably lacking.
This adaptation captures the essence of Jane Austen's brilliant social comedy. It shows the intricacies of relationships (played by exceptional actors), the humor of human foibles and undue formality, and the dangers of good intentions.
As with all Jane Austen works, the ending (while wonderful) is not as important as the path the story takes in getting there. The creativity of the cast and director, along with the brilliancy of the work itself, makes this version of "Emma" a must-see.
