Movie Reviews of EmmaMovie Review: Kate Beckinsale better than Gwyneth Summary: 5 Stars
Well, if you're going to spend the money on the Emma movie, this IS the only version to buy. Gwyneth Paltrow's version does not make the grade, in my opinion. She doesn't fit the part like Kate Beckinsale does. She's got the voice, accent, demeanor, and personality to fit the image of what Jane Austen portrays in her book. This is the one to buy. If you want to own this, trust me, rent both versions... you'll see what I mean.
Movie Review: An excellent peak into Jane Austen's world Summary: 5 Stars
I've just watched both movie versions of Emma, and this film is far and away the better of the two. If you truly want to see Jane Austen's characters as she intended them, then get this film. The setting and costuming is gorgeous, and the actors play the characters as they read in the original novel. If you'd prefer a Hollywood version with weak men and dinghy women, get the Gweneth Paltrow version.
Movie Review: My Favorite Version Summary: 5 Stars
I absolutely love this version of Emma; I enjoyed Kate Beckinsale and Mark Strong as Emma and Mr. Knightly. The scenery, performances, screenplay, and attention to detail combine to make this a wonderful adaptation.
I have another verson of "Emma"; but nobody does Jane Austen better than A&E/BBC. Their attention to details such as costume, music, scenery, food, etc. can't be beat.
Movie Review: Emma Summary: 5 Stars
Emma is a mischevious young woman whose hobby seems to be that of "matchmaker" for others, and in doing so loses sight of her personal needs for love and affection. It is a delight to see her "wake-up" to the fact that in taking care of the needs of others, we cannot ignore our own needs. Even the Bible acknowledges that our love for others is regulated ny our own healthy love of one's self.
Movie Review: Excellent adaptation Summary: 5 Stars
I am a very big Austen fan but I never liked the book Emma much. So I was very surprised with the excellent movie adaptation. Whether you are an Austen fan or not, you are sure to enjoy this movie. Kate Beckinsale really brings Emma's character to life, and you like her all the more because she has her flaws. Mr. Knightley played by Strong is a dream. I adore him almost as much as Darcy!
