Movie Reviews of Emergency! Season Five

Movie Review: Doctor, doctor, give me the news!
Summary: 5 Stars

I grew up watching this show. Not when it originally aired but in syndicated reruns, even though I was 5 when it first aired in 1972. I used to watch with my grandmother whenver I could, or by myself if we weren't around each other. She and I both agreed that "Johnny was dreamy, crooked smile and all".

When I found that the series was going to be released on DVD, I just had to get it. I have, right now, the first 5 seasons. I'm anxiously waiting the release of Season 6 and the final season of 2-hour "movies". The show brings back lots of great childhood memories about me and the only grandmother I ever knew.

I sit and watch the series now with my teenage daughters. They both comment on how "cute Johnny and Roy are" and I and my husband comment on all of the mistakes we can see in an episode.
I've read other reviews that complain about the quality of the images, but people have to remember that this show, a pioneer in its day, was actually filmed not recorded like shows nowadays. You also have to consider how long ago the series aired. (30+ years ago).
I own the "Behind the Scenes" guide book that tells a lot about the Paramedic Program, in its infancy, and how "Emergency" was instrumental in gaining the Paramedic Program public awareness. If anyone wants to read about the show and the Paramedic Program started in the early, early 70's, get the book, too.

NOTE TO UNIVERSAL: Don't wait a year before releasing the next season. Several shows from the 70's and 80's and even the 90's, release a season every SIX months!

Movie Review: Emergency is excellent as always
Summary: 5 Stars

This Emergency! DVD is excellent as all the others. I have all the DVD's, and will be buying season six when it comes out. All the actors are right on target, as usual. Storylines are always interesting, amusing, and educational.

My favorite episodes are The Stewardess, with Johnny on the prowl again, this time after a flight attendent. I'm always amazed at how he can hit on a flight attendant while saving a heart attack victim's life all in a matter of minutes.

The Nuisance has Johnny in the hospital while Roy is stuck with a Mr. Know-It-All-partner. It's interesting to see Roy and the guys irratated over Johnny's replacement.

The Great Crash Diet has some very amusing scenes with Chet obsessing over eating healthy. It's hard to believe some of the crazy recipes Chet comes up with for the guys to eat, including figs and pumpernickel rolls. Dr. Morton must save the beast, Chet, before it's too late.

In the episode titled "Election", the best scene is where the sculptress gets her model stuck in plaster. Just love those "Emergency" situations that people get stuck in.

I highly recommend this DVD to any "Emergency!" fan or anyone interested in enjoying some good quality acting, as well as medical and humor, all in one hour episodes.

Movie Review: Have the four previous seasons on DVD
Summary: 5 Stars

Even though this is not released yet, I am certain that barring playability issues with the discs (prefer they be one-sided), I will be happy with the results.

What many fail to realize is these shows were filmed in the 70s. This was before High Def cameras and other equipment in use today that gives such high quality images.

The show is watchable and brings back childhood memories. Between CHiPs, Emergency!, and reruns of Dick Van Dyke and Gilligan's Island, life was good.

I watch every season from start to finish before watching the newest addition. I hope they release the remaining season as well as the movies that seemed to act as the 7th season.

This show is a far cry better that all the reality garbage we have to choose from today!

Movie Review: Outstanding show!
Summary: 5 Stars

I love this show and will be ordering it soon and I never tire of watching it either. I used to watch reruns of it every Saturday night at 5PM at my grandparents house when I was little in the early 80s growing up in Northern California. I am now a fireman paramedic in Great Falls, Montana and became one because of EMERGENCY! I watch an episode or two before leaving for work depending on which season I am in the mood for since I already own all 4 now. Chet is the greatest comic relief for the show and I love the squabbles he and Johnny have but we all know they really care about each other. Not only is EMERGENCY! great fun and entertainment to watch but you also learn alot from this show when you see Johnny and Roy out on a call saving a life or two.

Movie Review: ONE OF THE BEST TV SHOWS EVER!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have purchased all five seasons and love them all. There are few shows today that offer real entertainment as Emergency. I was happy when the show was offered on DVD as I had missed this on TV and watched it years later on cable.

I had the biggest crush on Randolph Mantooth and still do!! He is awesome! In fact, I married a guy who looks a lot like him. The other cast members are great as well, including Michael Norrell as Capt. Stanley.

The episodes are great and the acting was well done. I can't think of an episode that I didn't like. I only wish the show had continued after Johnny and Roy were promoted to Fire Department captains. I'm sure there were a lot more adventures to be told.
