Movie Reviews of Elvira Madigan (Import , All Regions)Movie Review: Great movie Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this as a gift for my mother and sat and watched it with her a couple of times. It's an unforgettable movie and will delight anyone who likes foreign films (note that it is subtitled). Good story line complimented by beautiful music by Vivaldi and Mozart.
If you like beautiful cinematography, classical music, an interesting tragic story-line and period drama, you'll be happy to add this film to your library.
Movie Review: Elvira Madigan Summary: 5 Stars
Given the story, cinematography, and music, the actors in this film blend together so well as to make this one of the most beautiful films in the love story genre. The story is captivating with historical roots.
It is well worth having in anyone's film library and worth another look. The music is classical and warm.
Movie Review: A great movie Summary: 5 Stars
I love this movie. It is hard to imagine a production done better. Beautifully filmed and acted, with a story that will haunt forever. You have to be ready to read your way through it, unless you understand Swedish, but it's well worth the effort.
Movie Review: Tragic beauty Summary: 4 Stars
This movie transported me back 40 years to when I first saw it. The artistic blend of fairytale photography, Mozart's music & the impossible position of two beautiful young lovers melds together to excite the senses and tug at the heart strings.
Movie Review: Midway this DVD showed a defect so I only say half of it! Summary: 3 Stars
When this movie came out in the early sixties it had a sensational review promoting it. The actress was likened to Ingrid Bergman's daughter..., the scenery was said to be stunning as was the Mozart music. I assumed something was wrong with the young me if I did not love it. Seeing it again in 2010, I was indifferent if not bored, the acting was nothing important, I was surprised that the actress walked a tight rope between two trees in the park, then I found out that she grew up in a circus family, yet in her youth she had lost her way as she seduced a swedish military man and came to a tragic ending with him. Amazon was courteous as this pocked DVD was returned.
