Movie Reviews of Elton 60: Live at Madison Square Garden Collector's Box Set - Amazon.com Exclusive [2 DVD/1 CD]Movie Review: Still, 60 And Still Rocking Summary: 4 Stars
When it comes to great music, there have been some really great highlights this past year, especially in British Rock this year. With the reunions of The Police & Genesis this year, many people have been reintroduced with great songs and melodies that this generation, who seems to be more interested in Paris Hilton and Britney Spears, hasn't heard. That also can be said for Elton John, who this year celebrated 2 milestones. The first is his 40th anniversary since he met his long-running songwriting partner and friend, Bernie Taupin, who helped him make music history for five decades of great pop music. But, his biggest milestone is celebrating his 60th birthday, and a special concert to celebrate with.
Elton 60: Live At Madison Square Garden is a well-dedicated and celebrated concert where Elton celebrated his 60th birthday, and his 60th live concert performance at Madison Square Garden. The concert is well-celebrated, as was shown earlier this year on the new My Network channel. The concert showcases Elton performing some of his biggest songs including classics like The Bitch Is Back, his standard Your Song, I Guess That's Why They Call It the Blues, the somber Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word and Daniel. The live performance of these songs sounds great and well-dedicated to his craft, even with some of his lesser-known tracks which are heard live for the first time on DVD like High Flying Bird, Roy Rogers, and his most recent track The Bridge from his 2006 album The Captain & The Kid. The DVD also includes other live performances from Elton's long-running career on the extra disc, including clips of performances from other New York events like Empty Garden, and Mona Lisas & Mad Hatters from 1973. The moments have all been remastered well, and bring out a great dedication of his carftsmanship of a great showman Elton has shown all over the years, and what so many acts today could still learn from him.
All in all, Elton 60: Live At Madison Square Garden is a great buy for the die hard Elton John fan, or for anybody who hasn't yet heard or seen the Elton John experience. It is a great buy for any music lover. I really think this is one of the best music video DVD's of this year, and Elton John still knows how to show it.
