Movie Reviews of Elmo's Christmas CountdownMovie Review: THIS ONE WAS GOOD!!!! Summary: 5 Stars
Nice! I dig it when the people at Sesame Street tighten their boots and deliver a quality family special. I have a few kids kicking around and I'm always pleased to throw some Street on the TV and watch and enjoy it with them. I try not to discriminate against the more modern stuff, but over the last five Christmases I have witnessed some heinously bad Sesame specials in the name of that furry red [...] Elmo. Heinously.
But it seems Elmo has redeemed himself with this outing. Christmas Countdown is top shelf... prolly the coolest Sesame bit in at least a decade,,, maybe even since Jim Henson days!
Plenty of fun to be had here, with a nice selection of guest appearances, all of whom seem to be having fun themselves... (theres no point of having celebrity guests when they just seem to be awkward and going through the motions, right?) Ben Stiller lends his voice to Stiller the elf, Kevin James plays a boisterous Santa Claus etc. theres lots of guests... But what is best about this special, is that it doesn't try to be overly polished and sticky sweet. The writers aren't afraid to go into controversial five year old territory... for instance: "On behalf of the other reindeers, I would just like to say (farts-cold stare)" Wooooooo! Plus Elmo doesn't steal the show,,, all the old time Muppets are on board, with several new bits... really worth it for all ages! Much, much better than that one when Elmo wished every day was Christmas. That one was torture!
