Movie Review: disappointing - shallow and stilted performances

I was very disappointed with this version of the story of Edward and Mrs. Simpson. The settings were play like rather than film like - overlit and un-natural. The actors played the parts like a Grade B sit com - with little feeling or emotion. Did not stand up to other productions like "Victoria and Albert" which I have watched again and again. Maybe it's just me - but I couldn't even finish watching this - don't waste your money - in my opinion.Movie Review: Edward & Mrs. Simpson

The acting and casting looked good to me but the theme song that played at the beginning and end of each DVD drove me absolutely nuts. I also didn't care for the artifical quality of some of the indoor scenes. In particular, the lighting reminded me too much of what I call "soap opera lighting." I'm not sure if this was supposed to be a play, a movie, or a docu-drama but whatever it was it didn't feel real to me. It felt fake.
