Movie Review: To Clear some things up
Summary: 5 Stars
to the writer asking how the long version can be 2:35 when it was on TV- I suspect that 95% of the TV edition is from existing negatives-and what were they filmed in? -2:35! So they had to crop nearly the whole movie to make a TV version. The few scenes shot 4:3 can be zoomed or whatever.
If the US edition doesnt pan out- there is a STUNNING 3 disc R2 PAL edition that just came out from France (at Amazon.fr)
The remastering of the theatrical cut is amazing. (the TV cut is 4:3) Go to dvd.fr for screen shots/shootout. Get yourself an all-region player!

I never got to see it when it came out, but I love the movie. The miniseries was a major disapointment. They tried to redo the movie but didn't really do a good job of it. This is the Extended/Drectors Cut that plays on the Sci-Fi channel. This explanes alot that in the orignal didn't make sence or left you going "HUH". It would had been nice to had seen what the movie would had looked like if it wasn't shorten for the movies. If you liked the orignal Dune you will love the Extended version. This is well worth the cost.Movie Review: THE BEST.

THIS MOVIE IS GREAT. NOTE: IT IS LONG, SO YOU NEED A LITTLE PATIENCE. THE ACTING IS THE BEST. GREAT PLOT. GREAT COSTUMES ETC.... IT DOES HAVE SOME GREAT COMBAT AND ACTION SCENES AND SOME GREAT SUSPENSE. THE STORY IS LONG. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A BUNCH OF BLOOD AND GUTS, THIS IS PROBABLY TOO INTELLECTUALLY COMPLICATED FOR YOUR TASTES. THE FIRST TIME I WATCHED IT, I THOUGHT IT WAS OK. I've previously owned the Lynch version on DVD and the epic, three hour TV version that was shown on the Sci-Fi channel on a worn-out VHS tape. When this new extended edition dvd was released I jumped at the chance to get it. The extended version gives you much more detail and insight into the characters than the Lynch cut. While I find that the Lynch cut is enjoyable in it's own right I prefer the completeness of the extended edition. The shorter version just seems too rushed with too many gaps.Movie Review: Best of it's Genre!

Dune (Extended Edition) This has got to be the definitive for this genre of Science Fiction! I think the story as well as the cinematography are the top of the list! The extended version has more dialogue as well as the story board introduction that gives a reference to how the human race has evolved to the level it was at this time. Then the next step...Muad'Dib! A MUST if you don't have it!
