Movie Review: A no BS look inside a 12 step program meeting.

As a recovering alcoholic this movie was a dose of reality for me.Richard Lewis gives an acadamy award winning performance! If your recovering or not,there's something in this movie for everybody.This movie just might start you on the road to recovery. Well worth the money.I still watch it quite often just to keep things in perspective.Great for loved ones of those in 12 step programs so they can see what a closed meeting looks like.Covers both alcohol and drug abuse. A stunning portrayal of the disease of alcoholism. The story revolves around an AA meeting in the basement of a church. Richard Lewis stars as a member on the verge of relapse. The stories told in the meeting are typical of the reality of addiction. After viewing this film which I found so fascinating I wanted to go to all the AA meetings in NY and hear everyone's story. It's heavy and inspiring!! 2 thumbs up!
