Movie Reviews of Drums Along the Mohawk

Movie Review: DRUMS ALONG THE MOHAWK
Summary: 5 Stars

Again, History! Henry Fonda, Claudette Colbert, Ward bond, and many others. The history of the revolution, and those who fourght in it, to bring us to this point today, the USA! It shows what our forefathers and women too, had too endure to bring themselves, and this country through in order for us to have the very freedoms we have today. It tells of courage. it tells of friendly Indian's, Like Blue Blood, whose is played by a real Indian, more true to life. It has that meany guy, john Carradine, yeah mean, but a fantastic chracter actor, he, along with the others, make this movie work.

Movie Review: Great classic movie and characters!
Summary: 5 Stars

I received this as a Christmas present and found it very enjoyable for Holi-daze nostalgic viewing. Both the characters and story are classic! It makes an interesting pair with Gibson's "Patriot" - in fact when I saw the cover, I noticed a slight resemblance in their American Revolutionary roles between the young Fonda and Gibson. I found the action scenes surprisingly engaging as I have been long jaded with modern movie action. This was a great low cost offering for the season.

Movie Review: Lovin Henry Fonda
Summary: 5 Stars

Well, being a great fan of Mr.Fonda since I was very young, it was great to get one of his older movies to watch on DVD.
Drums is a typically well done John Ford story with all the story sidebars and characters you can later regognize as the Ford "people", even a rather young Ward Bond.
This movie was based on a book of the same title, and is good enough to make you want to read the book, just like the movie versoin of "The Grapes of Wrath" does.

Movie Review: Everythings in it!
Summary: 5 Stars

I had never heard of this movie when I came upon it. I of course had heard of Claudette Colbert, Henry Fonda & my favorite Edna May Oliver, but never this movie. What a nice surprise we had when we watched it. My husband, granddaughter & myself all were wrapped up in this from the beginning. I wished they'd make more like these instead of the junk today.

Movie Review: HEARTBREAKING PERIOD FILM!!
Summary: 5 Stars

Dated, yes. But a remarkably moving film. Starting, honest performances. Fonda's lengthy speech, semi-conscious after an horrendous battle, is a shattering anti-war sentiment. The transfer is lovely. Yes, there are a few clitches here and there, but 95% of it is ravishing technicolor. One can only hope that UNCONQUERED will arrive soon on DVD.
