Movie Review: I crown this the Best Comedy of the 1999!
Summary: 5 Stars
To view the marketing of this movie, you would think it was a cute, slapstick, teeney-bopper type comedy. Nothing could be further from the truth. It ingeniously captures stereotypes and exaggerates them for a bust-your-gut time. Throughout the movie you find yourself laughing when you know you shouldn't be in this politically correct world.If you liked "There's Something About Mary," you will love this movie. It is all of the laughs without the language or sexual content. Highly recommended!
Movie Review: Brilliant small town / beauty pageant satire

I am not a fan of beauty pageants, therefore it was quite refreshing to see a pageant for what it really is. The backstage politics were outrageously funny. One of the best black comedies I have ever seen. As good as if not better than "Smile". The quality of the dvd is brilliant. Colors are bright and blacks deep. The sound is 100% too. Unfortunately, I would've liked to have an audio commentary track, as I would have liked to know what the makers intended and thought while making this film.Movie Review: What an awesome movie

I hate beauty contests. They are a waste of Air time. When I saw this I laughed so hard I had tears in my eyes at points. Kirstie Alley is superb, as is the rest of the cast. When her daughter brings out a life-sized, crucified Jesus doll and starts singing and dancing with it, I lost it. I was on the floor howling with laughter.For anyone who sees beauty contests as pointless, you will love this movie. It's one of the most hilarious movies I've seen in the last 5 years. It will not disappoint!
Movie Review: Good enough to buy twice

Yep you read it right. This movie is so funny and I enjoyed it so much over the years that I plan on buying a second copy since my first dvd is getting a little scratched. When I pull this movie out to watch with friends at first they don't think much about it but after the intro with Adam West, they get intrigued after the first ten minutes they're hooked.
If had to whittle down my collection of DVDs to only 100, this one would surely make the cut.

If you are a Lutheran with parents who were both born in Minnesota, you can really appreciate the humor in this movie. The Minnesota accent is great, and the reference to Lutefisk really put it over the top for me. Eventhough I grewup in Southern California, my parents brought their Scandinavian customs, so we had Lutefisk for Christmas and New Years. Also, the Womans Lutheran Gun Club was a nice touch. Bottom line, this is a very funny movie.
