Movie Reviews of Driving LessonsMovie Review: Driving Lessons Summary: 4 Stars
A simple story involving a teen age minister's son named Ben, well played by Ruper Grint He shows some real acting chops far beyond his Ron Weasley character from the Harry Potter movies. Living a pretty much repressed life under his controlling mother played by Laura Linney. Ben lands a job working for an eccentric over the hill actress (a very funny Julie Walters). His travels with Dame Evie (Ms. Walters) is both funny and heartwarming as we see Ben becomming less shy and a more confident young man. Great fun, A movie for the whole family to enjoy!
Movie Review: "Harry Potter's side-kick carries this movie well! Summary: 4 Stars
I enjoyed "Driving Lessons." It's not an easy story - there's quite a bit of dysfunction in the family of
the main character, Harry Potter's Rupert Grint, but it's a tremendous growing experience and he negotiates
the plot, relationships and emotions exceptionally well. Kudos, Rupert! Hats off to both Julie Walters as
the mentor and to Laura Linney as the crazed mother. Nick Farrell is moving as the overwhelmed father and
spouse.
Movie Review: Great! Summary: 4 Stars
I think it was great to see Rupert involved in something outside of Harry Potter; I can't help but wonder what other films he'll get into. This movie just shows the results of smothering a child, and the messy, if not endearing results.
I liked how his character was trying to find himself, and thanks to his 'employer', found the nerve to stand on his own two feet. kinda makes one wish they had the courage themselves at that age...
Movie Review: Driving Lessons Summary: 4 Stars
Driving Lessons
An interesting tale of missunderstood youth.
A new role for Rupert Grint who managed to get away from the Ron Weasley image.
Curious that there were also others from the Harry Potter cast in this movie.
Worth watching if you have the time, though it will not make history.
Movie Review: Well worth it Summary: 4 Stars
Grint shows that he may have a career beyond "Harry Potter." But the thing I really liked about this movie is its nuanced treatment of religion with the father and mother representing opposing views. The coming of age aspect of the story wasn't terribly daring or new, but passable enough not to distract from the rest of the film.
