Movie Reviews of Dragonfly (Widescreen)

Movie Review: Enjoyable sleeper
Summary: 4 Stars

Despite the material's potential, this gets off to a snoozable start. Kevin Costner appears a Joe Darrow, a recently widowed doctor. Probably widowed, because his wife's body was never found after a tragic end to her third-world relief mission.

But is she really gone? As a doctor, Joe comes in contact with many patients who are or once were close to death - whatever 'death' means. When they come back, they bring a message from her to Joe, and the urgency of that message seems to ratchet up day by day. It sends Joe on a mission of his own, deep into the jungle to the place where she died ...

Saying more would say too much, but the last third of the movie makes it worthwhile. Not just the action but the personal drama reach levels that the movie's first big part never hinted at. If you can get past the early part, the movie's powerful ending makes up for the wait.

Movie Review: I must comment
Summary: 4 Stars

Normally Amazon member reviews reflect my opinions about movies, hence my shock at really enjoying this film. Based on these dismal reviews, I bought it only because it was on sale pre-viewed, and watched it when my wife was safely elsewhere, lest I ruin an evening.

With certain films, one generally gets out of it what one takes in. I went in with no preconceptions, and was utterly stunned by this thrilling movie and its superb ending. I now wish I had seen this on the big screen.

Yes, a lot of the events in this movie have been done before, but this is a really good flick and I recommend it without hesitation.

There. I had to say something.

Movie Review: An Overlooked Heart Warming Thriller
Summary: 4 Stars

This is a wonderful movie that somehow was swept under the carpet. It got lost in the shuffle of the multitude of new film releases and the big studio productions, but it deserved better.
Think of it as "Phenomonon" combined with "Ghost" and you have a very captivating, well written and directed movie. Well known, vetran actors add the finishing touch.
Its a love story and a paranormal thriller combined, and it challenges the mind and captures the heart simultaneously. Once hooked, you stay hooked, until the very end, when your emotions take control and leave you feeling great, as tears of happiness overtake you.

Movie Review: Don't sleep on this one
Summary: 4 Stars

Honestly, I bought a late night ticket for John Q, and just snuck into this one while I was waiting. Me and 2 of my "homeboys" that I ran into at the mall. It started off slow, I was kinda falling asleep. but suddenly, the entire movie changes gears and becomes this intense figure it out scifi/mystery/thriller. What I liked about it was that you don't expect it to be good and it really was very good. I'll give it an A.

Movie Review: A rather nifty paranormal romance...
Summary: 4 Stars

Is it the best movie I ever saw? No, but it was enjoyable enough that I plan to buy a copy. It's a ghostly love story with an ending that I have to admit was different than I expected. It's a bittersweet love story that makes you ponder the bigger picture of the bonds we create with the people we care about. It's a feel good movie, so don't expect a lot of action, but if you like love stories you will like this movie.
