Movie Review: Goofy anime fan must-have

Wow, no one else has reviewed this yet? I question this, because both of these DVDs have both been available to the public for years now. On to the actual review:
First, let me prelude this by saying that the combination of these two animes into one single cheap purchase, already gains it some "points".
Dragon Half: A story that is heavy on the parody, and heavier still on the silly. After a dragon and dragon-slayer wed, our star is born, a half dragon named Mink, and, after leading a peaceful/sheltered life (which you wouldn't guess, from the commotion caused by her parents), goes off on an epic quest to win the love of the legendary dragon-slayer Dick Saucer. When you get right down to it, the story line is not the engaging aspect of this anime, so much as is the parody, of which there is much, from the overuse of "chibi" characters in anime, common Role-playing game stereo types, Dungeons and Dragons genre satire, to the classic Mary Sue style character that is Mink. Dragon Half consists of two episodes, as does it's partner in crime, Puni Puni Poemy.
Puni Puni Poemy comes from the tortured minds that were responsible for the calamity of an anime that is Excel Saga. If you have seen any of the episodes of Excel Saga, then you know what I mean by calamity: a daring foray into the depths of slapstick anime parody wordplay games. If you understood that, then good job, because I didn't. What I mean to say is that it is a pun inducing, lame joke making, hilarious physical comedy that you either loved or hated. My opinion? If you open up to your more immature side, and choose to absorb some of that jittery laughter goodness, you will have a good time. Now that I've given you an insight to the 26 episode madness that is Excel Saga, I can properly introduce Puni Puni Poemy. After making Excel Saga (and actually during the making of Excel Saga) the creators realized they still had so many ideas still wandering through their heads that were just too crazy to pass up, that they would have to make another series to use what they had leftover. And that is precisly what Puni Puni Poemy feels like. Hyper-active, ADD-inspired, over-the-top, hypen-using, re-heated, nuclear-powered, salami mayonaisse for breakfast. Yeah, it's that intense. The vibe of the anime is best displayed by the Main Character's voice actor, or rather, her style of voice acting. Throughout the entire anime, she is screaming in a high-pitched fast-paced monotone. I don't know how that works, but it does. From the hyper-active main character, and the re-used character of "The Directer" (an anime interpretation of the directer in real life), to the ridiculous stereotypical sexual-fetish embodiments of Poemy's friends, this anime promises a laugh a minute to the anime enthusiast, and those in search of a silly/good time.
A note to parents: While neither of these series are particularly violent nor sexually charged, I would rate it PG-13 for sexual themes, partial nudity, infrequent swearing, and cartoon violence. Essentially: watch it yourself before watching it with the kids.

While that does have the advantage of making her abnormally strong it's also left her with a cute pair of wings and a big green tail! Oh yes and horns. Try explaining that your prom date! And to complicate things even more Mink's got the hots for Dick Saucer a fabulously popular pop idol who also happens to be a professional dragon killer.
