Movie Reviews of Dragnet 1967 - Season 1

Movie Review: As perfect as L.A.
Summary: 5 Stars

I loved this show more than most things ever aired on tv. I cried when they stopped showing the reruns a few years ago. "Law and Order," the new "Dragnet," "Matlock"...no detective/police show could ever compare to this one. It's as hilarious as it is serious, and Jack Webb was a perfect actor.
As for the set itself, I couldn't have been more happy with it. It had exactly what I paid money to see - the First Season('67). The only extra was the radio show, but that's fine. I bought this because I love the show, not because I love extras. If they came with everything, there would be no reason to call them extras. I'm glad they finally released these long-awaited, not-that-bad-looking episodes of joy. Long live Dragnet!

Movie Review: Just The Facts, Ma'am
Summary: 5 Stars

As a small child watching Nick At Nite, I discovered "Dragnet" and by age ten, I knew a little bit about crime-fighting, drugs, and that little bit of music they play after a character says something witty. Yes, "Dragnet" is (in my opinion) the best police show ever. Point-blank, period. "Adam 12" is good too but it's no "Dragnet". Joe Friday and Bill Gannon are the perfect 1,2 punch that make up a true dynamic duo. I recently purchased season one and I can't wait to buy every season that's released.

Movie Review: Great series is very dated
Summary: 5 Stars

I was only 4 years old when Dragnet hit the small screen in 1967.
I have seen the series very few times, but remember watching some
with my parents in the 1970s!
I really enjoyed this DVD collection and will definitely get Season 2 !
It is very dated and the acting can be very stiff which was intentional
from Jack Webb, but is very entertaining.
To bad Jack passed away when he was planning on a new Dragnet
1982 series with Kent McCord as his partner.

Movie Review: DS1
Summary: 5 Stars

What a great series. Great straight forward acting but what else would you expect from Jack Webb? As usual, Universals Seal of Approval. No meaningful extras, picture freezes though mine hasn't yet, picture qualiity is o.k. and now it looks like Season 2 will not be released. Just when I thought Universal couldn't outdo themselves they raise the bar of mediocrity another notch. Congrats U. The series gets 5*. As usual U. gets 1.
