Movie Review: THROUGH THE YEARS WITH DOYLE LAWSON

THROUGH THE YEARS, WHAT A GREAT DVD. AS A BIG FAN OF GOSPEL BLUEGRASS AND DOYLE LAWSON, THIS DVD IS WHAT I HAD HOPED IT WOULD BE. I JUST STARTED REALLY LISTENING TO GOSPEL BLUEGRASS ABOUT THREE TO FOUR YEARS AGO, AND DOYLE LAWSON WAS THE FIRST LIVE BAND I SAW AND HAVE BEEN HOOKED SINCE. THIS DVD GOES BACK TO THE MEMBERS OF DOYLES BAND OVER 25 YEARS AND THE CURRENT BAND. WHAT A LINEUP. RUSSELL MOORE OF IIIRD TYME OUT. WHAT A GREAT SINGER. RAY DEATON ALSO FROM IIIRD TYME OUT. JIM MILLS, GREAT BANJO PLAYER FROM RICKY SKAGGS. HUNTER BERRY WITH RHONDA VINCIENT. RANDY GRAHAM,BARRY ABERNATHY,OWEN SAUNDERS, DALE PERRY,JOHN BOWMAN,JIMMY VAN CLEVE,JIMMY HALEY,STEVE GULLEY.THE MUSIC IS GREAT. CURRENT BAND MEMBERS BARRY SCOTT, JAMIE DALEY,TERRY BAUCOM,JESSE STOCKMAN,AND OF COURSE DOYLE LAWSON ARE GREAT.
IM SURE I LEFT OUT A COUPLE OF THE OTHERS GUYS ON THIS DVD BUT THEY WERE ALL GOOD. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS DVD. ITS WORTH THE MONEY.
THE DVD IS FULL OF GREAT MUSIC, 32 SONGS. THE GOSPEL SONGS ARE TOUCHING AND FROM THE HEART. GOD HAS BLESSED THEM AND THEY HAVE BLESSED MANY WITH THIER MUSIC.
THANKS DOYLE LAWSON FOR THE GREAT DVD. KEEP DOING GODS WILL THROUGH MUSIC. I KNOW THE FANS WILL KEEP LISTENING. I WILL.
Movie Review: First-class Bluegrass

Doyle Lawson has been at the forefront of the Bluegrass scene as a second-generation mandolin great, band-member (Jimmy Martin, J.D. Crowe,The Country Gentlemen, The Bluegrass Album Band), and, since 1979, as a band leader. This DVD celebrates 25 years of Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver with a concert that reunited many of the members who have passed through his lineups in that time.
The DVD contains a generous 32 songs, all featuring Doyle's trademark three and four part harmonies and a standard of instrumental accomplishment you expect from a band at the top of the bluegrass tree. There is plenty of variety of tempos and feels and plenty of great gospel selections, several performed in stunning a capella.
The only drawback is that the DVD lacks a menu, meaning the only way to watch it is from the beginning or by using the forward button, That, however, is the most minor of considerations. The musical performances captured here, the warm on-stage persona of Doyle Lawson and the high quality camerawork and editing (not to mention the low price) make this an essential addition to the bluegrass DVD library.
Movie Review: Terrific DVD!

This DVD was recorded at a concert in 2004 where Doyle Lawson was celebrating his 25th year of heading up his own band. He had played with the Country Gentlemen and other bluegrass bands of note prior to that. There are 32 musical pieces on this DVD, all played with various assortments of his previous band members. You would think they had all just played together last week because the renditions are precise, and tuneful, and tight, just as all of Doyle's bands have been. It is a real celebration of his music, heavy on the gospel songs, which is true to Doyle's personality, and I think it's an outstanding representation of his musical style. If you like beautiful voices in harmony this is the one for you! The songs are beautifuly harmonized by every artist that has performed with Doyle Lawson over the years. I enjoyed every one of the 32 songs! This is a DVD that is so fun and uplifting to watch and listen to over & over. The Bluegrass and gospel mixture is perfect from the old songs that never die to the newer ones. I did not know when I ordered this DVD that all these great artists were also performing. I thank Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver for the pleasure of being able to watch this on DVD.Movie Review: Excellent, excellent DVD. Great quality music

I bought this DVD for myself and ended up buying copies for others as gifts. Simply put, I was surprised by the high quality of this DVD. And it's long at that! I just love how the crowd erupts after the first song. I think they were surprised by good Doyle and his band sounded after all these years. I've listened to/watched this DVD many, many times...never get tired of it. My favorite song is TN Banjo Man. Jimmy Mills does a fantastic job. But the entire DVD is great. You'll love it!
