Movie Review: If you found this funny, you have the brain of a moron.
Summary: 1 Stars
I know my review title is antagonistic and I know I'm going to get some half wit claiming that I didn't understand the true "Hood" parody, or the undertones of comedy genius that you would miss if you're not from the "Hood" or whatever. This film was terrible and for a Wayans Brothers production I was seriously let down, being a fan of their other work like the first two Scary Movie films or the Wayans Bro's show I expected more. Knowing that this film was a "Parody" of those "Gangster" or "Keeping it real" black movies, I expected something smart that would poke serious fun at the guys who claim to live that life. Instead I was subjected to Marlon Wayans pulling a ridiculous face and walking around with a water pistol and Damon Wayans being the typical "I'm a smart gangster" that we see in all movies.
If you read this and you disagree with my view then I request that you explain to me what I have missed, because there was not a single incident for which I even snickered at any of the so called jokes.

Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in The Hood wants desperately to be an Airplane-like parody of inner-city African American gangsta movies. Instead, it offers us more turkey than we would find at any Thanksgiving spread. Unfunny, stereotypical, stupid, and crass, it was cowritten by Marlon and Shawn Wayans, both of whom should have known better. The two fare better as actors than writers, as they are almost amusing as hardened, dimwitted homeboys. As Ashtray, Shawn returns to his 'hood and hooks up with his best buddy (Marlon) before the two embark on a series of oh-so-wacky adventures. Siblings Keenen Ivory, Kim, and Craig Wayans also make appearances. If you really want a laugh, watch Booty Call. --Rochelle O'GormanComedy DVD Video
