Movie Review: You must see it to believe how good it is

I have had this dvd in UK release format for nearly a year. It includes the last show of Donny's 2003 tour in support of the platinum selling cd Somewhere in Time. Donny performs the familiar hits, and material from his two most recent cds. If you have not seen or heard Donny perform since the Donny and Marie show days, I urge you to check this out. Among Donny's musical influences are Stevie Wonder, Eddie Kendricks and other Motown/TSOP artists. His voice has always has a smooth soulful sound. The material performed in these concerts demonstrates his talent and range.
What is most striking, even to me, is the comfort and ease with which he performs now. The musicians with which he travels are equally capable and they form a tight ensemble playing off each other in an entertaining fashion. He shows great charisma and stage presence, which translates even through this medium. When I showed this to friends who were not enamored with Donny Osmond in the past, I directed them to the selections-"Would I Lie to You?" and "I Wish". They were, appropriately, blown away. I think you will be surprised as well. The tour sold well all over the UK, and the audiences were obviously entertained.
Also included is a behind-the scenes documentary which gives you a glimpse into the mindset of the artist, returning to England 30 years after the height of Osmondmania. It may help you understand who he is today and the things he has experienced.
Of course those of us who have been down the road and followed the Osmonds' career will love hearing the familiar songs, stripped down and without quite so much hysteria. A lovely package...
Movie Review: What a Talented Lad and Overall Great Time for Everyone!

This DVD is packed so tight with pure talent from every direction, I thought my DVD player was gonna explode! Donny's totally professional and unyielding performance is exactly what I've come to expect from the abundantly gifted & power-packed Osmond family, and I wasn't disappointed. The Band is so hot, the Audience is so wonderful, Donny's voice is so rich & powerful, the selection of songs are so great, and the sound, lighting & picture quality are all first class. The entire concert from the beginning to the end (including the documentary & DVD package as a whole) is such a fine & entertaining experience all around, I can't help but give it 5 Stars! Great work Donny! That stuff you do is nothin' short of outta sight! You are without a doubt a very rare & most special fellow, and one of the Top Ten greatest talents in my book! (PS. I can't believe I'm writing this...but I had to because this DVD is truly incredible. Donny Osmond is truly one talented guy and this concert recorded on DVD is incredible.
I didn't think much of his "Somewhere In Time" CD, but the live version here of the same songs works on every level. Osmond's voice, stage presence and phrasing are superb. Plus, there are a LOT of other song gems in this extraordinarily well-produced concert/dvd.
Hats off to Mr. Osmond and his team. This DVD could really do some impressive numbers internationally as it's very, very well done.
Movie Review: I Thoroughly Enjoyed This

I just want to say that I grew up watching this man and have loved him for 35 years. It is so nice to see him so happy and relaxed. He has a wonderful voice and can really connect with his audience. I have never been able to see him perform due to financial restrictions. I am currently in a wheelchair and reside in a nursing home so there is little chance that I will see him in the near future. Was surfing through and came upon this DVD. Thought great, like Donny, let's give the disc a whirl. Boy I was not disappointed. Although the concert is a few years old and shot in England, I really enjoyed it. Having a region free DVD player went to Amazon UK and ordered another of his concerts that was shot. It is more recent and really good has well. So if you are a Donny fan, order the DVD, pour a glass of wine and sit back and enjoy. I guarantee you won't be disappointed.
