Movie Review: I still don't know the true story, and I love it!
Summary: 5 Stars
This is the story of a classic lover who shows an aging psychiatrist, through careing and imagination, how full and beautiful the world really is. It delves into the meanings of life and love and for me it defines many of the important characteristics of a great lover.When the Don Juan explains how 'each of his lovers was truely among the most beautiful women in the world, even though some may say that this one the nose is too big and that one the breasts are too small, etc.' I was able to see how and why my own vision of people around me needed to expand.
This is another case of Brando showing why he gets the big bucks for every performance and led me back to some older Brando movies I hadn't seen.
I own this movie on VHS and now having seen it on DVD is marvelous.

One of my all time favorite films...this one is a good time! Sexy without much sex, sophisticated humor, and another fantastic role for Johnny Depp (one of the best actors today)... I recommend this film to all I know. Like all good stories, it unfolds its magic with a unique plot, great dialog, interesting characters and great performances. Yet, it is the psychology at work here that breathes the life throughout this film. This story gives you "new eyes"...it makes you look at your own life in a new way, and that puts it in a category of greatness. Watch as the dull and routine marriage of Dunaway and Brando blossoms with new life and excitement, through contact with Depp's delusional fantasy. The casting was spot on. Mercurial Johnny Depp can be anyone, I believe he IS Don Juan De Marco. Even at 300# plus, Brando still has it, Dunaway is and will always be a beautiful woman, and the combination obviously worked. The visit of Don Juans mother from Mexico throws a spanner in the Grandmas very believeable story.
In the end, does it really matter what IS, when you can have what you want just by looking with different eyes.
The music by Michael Kamen is superb! I have ordered the sound track. If you don't want to get up and dance (with your dog, if necessary)you just have no fantasy or romance in your soul.
It is a pity that this movie is relatively unknown.Everyone I have shown it to has been touched. I'm just glad it's available.

after watching this together (my boyfriend loved it, by the way), my boyfriend looked at me deep in my eyes and did the hand-kissing scene. we laughed, we hugged, we ended up in the bedroom. we intend to watch it on every anniversary. we intend to go dancing barefoot on the nearest warm beach at our next vacation. this is what this movie will do for you.
Movie Review: Love this movie!

Say what you want to about Johnny Depp -- but anyone who can hold his own against Brando deserves much applause. I adore this movie! It's been one of my favorites for years. I haven't liked every Johnny Depp movie, so I'm not classified as a "fanatic" per se; however, I felt this one was superbly casted (Depp aside) and acted. Faye Dunaway was fabulous! This movie makes even the most hardened of us believe in love. It's one big adventure and you'll certainly be glad to be along for the ride with such rich characters.
Just the scenery alone would be enough to buy this movie, and the soundtrack is wonderful (I have that also).
Great sleeper movie! I highly recommend it!
