Movie Review: Choose your own reality.
Summary: 5 Stars
What would happen if a man claiming to be the legendary Don Juan showed up in modern day New York? According to this movie, he would immediately be carted away to the nearest mental institution (and a good thing too. Think of all the diseases that a man like that might spread?). What results is the adventures of Don Juan, as told from the point of view of a very unusual young man who may or may not be insane.
"Don Juan DeMarco" is a marvellous movie. It is hilariously funny and romantic, yet the writer (not surprisingly, a former psychiatrist) also has something meaningful to say. The acting is superb. Johnny Depp is perfectly cast as the films protagonist and Marlon Brando, although almost at the end of his career, manages to prove that he still has it in him, as the psychiatrist who comes to believe.
In Australia, this film received very little publicity upon its release (I'm not even sure if it got a cinema release out here), but don't let that put you off. This is a well made and enjoyable movie, and I highly recommend it to anyone who dreams of living a life beyond the bounds of reality.
Movie Review: Made Me Feel Glad To Be A Woman

I loved this movie! First of all, Marlon Brando did an excellent job (as always) in his role as the psychiatrist and Johnny Depp portrayed an excellent Mexican, accent and all! I was extremely impressed with each of their performances.
But more than that . . . the whole plot left me wondering how it would end . . .who was this man really? A few delightful twists and turns made me laugh and it made me feel good to be a woman, expecially when Don Juan DeMarco expressed how lingerie floats over a woman's body. How sensual! The way he wooed women with his descriptive sweet talk is how any woman would like to be respected. The movie gave me the sense that men really do love women and answered the all-time question of "Why?"
Not just a 'chick' flick - this movie has a message for all the men. Marlon Brando's character got the message - will YOU? Girls, watch this one with your boyfriend, and women - set your hubbies down with a giant container of buttered popcorn. This one's a keeper.

Movie Review: A triumph of the imagination !

An original and challenging script where a psychiatrist on the verge the retirement faces a man corporal , spiritual and mentally persuaded he is Don Juan the greatest lover in the world . But , through the days a transfer of this romantic passion occurs and in this clever exchange of opinions Don Octavio will be twice the bridesmaid fairy who will help him and engage with his fantastic illusion.
It is a real pity the insane have no right to speak about the madness of the normal persons . This Shakespeare works out to perfection in this smart film . The metaphor is cler . In an extremely rational world , Leuwen sets a handsome man in the middle of Queens to adopt a posture which in many cases reminds us to Alonso Quijano when he became Don Quixote . And what clever words of Franz Kafka in this sense when stated : The disgrace of Don Quixote is not his fantasy ; it is Sanho Panza .
Brando overwhelmnig as always and Depp amazing with Dunaway making a believable role .
There is always a little madness in the love ; but there is always la little reason in the madness .
Movie Review: Love is MAGIC!

Some reviews I've read are by people who are either too young to know what love is or too immature to "get the point" of the the film. This movie was cast from old and new "Hollywood Royalty". So if all you ever saw Brando do was "Godfather" you can't realize what a true legend he IS! For me, this is by far the most charming role Brando ever did. In spite of many problems and weight gain, he was respected by fellow actors. Any actor of stature would've jumped at the rare opportunity to work with him. This wonderful fable was the right vehicle and I'm glad he was persuaded to do it. Brando and Dunaway are perfect. Depp is his usual off- beat nut job.Dunaway and Brando play a mature couple who have almost lost the "Magic" after 30+ years. Because of Depp, they get it back. Dr. Mickler learns a lot from his patient who is "crazy in love". The film requires the suspension of
disbelief. Trust this one to take you out of the everyday. It will renew your spirit!

Don Juan isn't just a great romantic comedy; it is THE romantic comedy for anyone looking for just as much romance as laughs. The movie deals with a mental patient (Johnny Depp)who believes he is the legendary Don Juan, greatest lover in all the world. Marlon Brando plays Dr. Jack Mickler, the retiring pshychatrist who tries to cure him.
After Don Juan tries to kill himself and winds up in a mental hospital, Jack listens to him tell his life story and decides how to interpret it.
The cast is excellent. Johnny Depp is as soulful as he is sexy. Faye Dunaway is perfect as Jack's loving, devoted and somewhat neglected wife. And you can't help falling in love with Dr. Mickler.
This movie is quirky, heartwarming, funny, romantic, sexy and beautiful. It will make you want to fall in love if you're single, and make you want to rediscover your partner if you're not.
I highly recommend you buy this movie and watching it with your boyfriend/girlfriend, fiance, or husband/wife immediately.
