Movie Reviews of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels

Movie Review: Only gets better with time!
Summary: 5 Stars

I love this movie. Steve Martin and Michael Caine each bring thier own brand of comedy to this delightfully funny movie. Steve Martin is Freddy Benson a loud mouthed obnoxious American and Michael Caine is a suave, sophisticated frenchman. They way they play off each other is genius. Steve Martin preformance is especially great with all of the ad libbing he does, especially when he plays at being Caine's half witted brother "Ruprick". I don't think I will ever get enough of the Steve Martin as Ruprick. This movie is a must for any Steve Martin fan, or Michael Caine fan, or anyone who just like a good laugh.

Movie Review: Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
Summary: 5 Stars

I am not a huge Steve Martin fan, but I have thoroughly enjoyed two of his films, "Planes, Trains and Automobiles," and this one, "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels." I think this is one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. It ranks up there with "The Odd Couple," and "Grumpy Old Men." How can you get much better than that?
The movie portrays everyman's fantasy of manipulating women. I emphasise the word "fantasy" because it's not very realistic. Our wives will keep us aware of that. And of course there is the surprise ending. If you haven't seen the movie, we'll keep it a surprise.

Movie Review: One of our favorite Frank Oz movies
Summary: 5 Stars

Frank Oz directs the best Steve Martin movies. While Michael Caine is a reliably excellent presence in most if not all of the movies he appears in, Martin (in my opinion) is uneven and all too often relies on shtick. Oz seems to bring out the best...or makes best use of the worse...in Martin's bag of tricks. Bowfinger is further evidence of this. We've (husband, wife and three kids) have seen this movie too many times to count and yet quite a few scenes never fail to make us laugh. The scene of Caine posing as famed Medical specialist testing Martin's feigned psychosomatic paralysis is priceless.

Movie Review: Steve Martin's Best Comedy Ever!
Summary: 5 Stars

Though it may not be laugh out loud funny all the way through, this is truly one of the most clever and underappreciated comedies of all time. Steve Martin is in top form here, but who would have thought Michael Caine would steal the show in a comedy. He is brilliant and believable here and makes for a great contrast when compared with Martin's loud eccentric character. I just bought this movie for cheap without ever seeing it before and I am glad I did. I would have paid twice as much to own this movie. One of my favorite comedies now and proves smart can be funny, if done the right way.

Movie Review: Great fun !
Summary: 5 Stars

This is one of my all time favorite movies, which I consider very funny. This is one of the few opportunities in which you get to see a great drama actor like Michael Caine playing comedy and performing wonderfully. Steve Martin, of course, is a natural at this. The combination of both Caine (as the elegant and sophisticated gentleman) and Martin (as the low-life, street-wise guy) worked wonders for the movie. This is great entertainment from the beginning to the end.... and with an unexpected ending!
Highly recommended if you want to have a few laughs.
