Movie Reviews of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels

Movie Review: May I go to the bathroom First?
Summary: 5 Stars

......
Thank You.

Phew!.

OMG. This has been the best repeatable comedy ever! Seen it a gazillion times and still wouldn't mind getting a Blue Ray version whenever MGM gets of their butt and release it on Blue Ray.

Michael Cain is spectacular. One of his other buddy movie is "The Man who would be King" with Sean Connery. If you have not see that, you should. Thats not a light comedy as this...but still an awesome buddy movie.

Steve Martin did his part very well too in this movie and so did Glenne Headly and all the other supporting actors. Brilliant.

There was not 1 second of unfunny fluff in this movie.. It takes off like a rocket and never comes down! When ever I put this DVD in the player, I have a smile on my face that never wears off!

Movie Review: The best comedy in the eighties!
Summary: 5 Stars

This film took by assault the abandoned concept of the comedy in his most genuine expression and gave it that Midas touch so well developed in the Fifties in U.K.(Kind hearts and cornetsThe ladykillers , The lavender hill mob ., Whisky Gallore , Hobson choice , The man in the white suit).
The lesson is crude : once more the hunter hunted fable is represented for Steve Martin as a pedestrian fake who knows to a mots respected gentleman with good maners and extraordibnary elegance (Michael Caine) , but there's something which spies behind the doors of our fate.
Watch this clever and unforgettable movie . There are a lot of laughable situations but the best jokes are simply suggested .
Caine in one of his best top performances and Martin making a towering role .
Don't miss this one.

Movie Review: I could (and do) watch DRS over and over
Summary: 5 Stars

Caine, Martin and Headly's comic timing + a great script + Frank Oz directing = a smashing, exceptionally entertaining feature. Each viewing results in the discovery of yet one more fresh twist given to a character, situation or line by this superb Gang of Four and their extraordinary supporting cast.

This timeless comedy won't feel like it was made nearly 20 years ago when you watch it because it feels so fresh. In fact, dirtyrottentomatoes gives it an unbelievable *95%* FRESH rating all these years after it was made.

If you want to have a great time and watch many masters at work without bringing inappropriate attention to themselves individually, this is a film for you.

I'm trying to find the awards this film must have won when it was released; it deserves many.

Movie Review: HANDS DOWN ONE OF THE FUNNIEST MOVIES OF ALL TIME
Summary: 5 Stars

There is no way to pick out one or two of the funniest scenes* in this movie because the whole thing from start to finish is one solid laugh (the kind where you think you just can't laugh hard enough). It is easy to say Steve Martin is great in this, but really watch Michael Caine closely, he is FANTASTIC. Scene after scene you will watch with tears of laughter and when the credits start rolling you will want to watch it again to pick up some things you might have missed.

Wish this could be rated higher than 5 stars. One my all time favorite films and once you watch, it will be one of yours. I promise.

*Although, in the scenes when "Ruprect" is on a date with the Michael Caine character and a beautiful woman, it is priceless and sooo funny!

Movie Review: HILAROUS SCHTICK AGAINST A LUSH RIVIERA BACKDROP
Summary: 5 Stars

"Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" has panache, slapstick, clever con hijinks, some gorgeous scenery of the beautiful French oceanside, a wacky Steve Martin peeing in his pants at the dinner table, and a debonair Michael Caine changing his impersonations as often as his hat.

Plus, a great ending.

MGM has done a fairly surprising job with the feature-rich DVD. Apart from a couple of standard theatrical trailers, it has a complete altenative track from Frank Oz (director) which is quite funny overall. Next up is a six and a half minute "behind the scenes" featurette including interviews with director Frank Oz, Steve Martin, Michael Caine, Glenne Headly, and the writer. In short, MGM has done a pretty decent job with this DVD.

Recommended purchase.
