Movie Review: Wonderful!

I just finished watching the Dinotopia miniseries with my boyfriend (both in our 30's). I had originally purchased the DVD of the TV series for him for Christmas after seeing parts of it while it was being played for our friends' children but we both felt that we were missing details of the story. I did not realize that the TV series was a continuation of the story started by the miniseries until I started reading the reviews on Amazon.
We split the 4 hour movie up over 2 or 3 days. The scenery and special effects were amazing and better than what I expected them to be. Having never read the books, I cannot comment on how true to the original story the movie was but I thoroughly entertained from start to finish.
We both felt that the movie might be too scary at times for very young viewers. However, there are valuable moral lessons taught within the movie so parents might want to watch it with their children and discuss it afterwards.
This DVD is a must have in the home library of families with children and adults who like to occasionally escape to a fantasy land with beautiful scenes and an entertaining story.
Movie Review: A Great Family Epic!

I first heard of Dinotopia a few years ago when I caught my younger brother reading one of the books in the series. Not long after, I started hearing rumors of a Miniseries to air on ABC. I decided I would watch it to see what all of the hype was about. After twenty minuits I was hooked! This 6 hour long epic is able to hold the interest of young and old for a long period of time.David and Karl are half brothers who go on a rutine flight with their father. But they hit a thunderstorm and crash into the ocean. David and Karl are forced to leave their father behind and swim ashore. They are both shocked to find that not only do dinosaurs still exsist, but that they co-exist with humans in a utopian society. But when the sunstones, wich give the poeple power and keep carnivours away from the villages, fail, David and Karl set out to restore power before all of Dinotopia is lost forever.
The special effects were very well done compared to other made for television movies. This movie was so popular, there is a t.v series comeing to ABC this fall starring Eric Von Detten (The Princess Diaries." You and your family will love Dinotopia.
Movie Review: Dinosaurs? Who ever said they were dead?

I always have been fascinated with Dinosaurs and archeology. There have been a few imformational excerpts on Dinosaurs, ya this is nothing like that!! This gives you the sense that people really do exsit with Dinosaurs, and who knows maybe they do ^_- I think that if you use your imagination you could live in your own world too. David and Karl did, they went island hopping with their father when they ran into a unexpeted strom that came from no where. The wind was too much for them and they crashed into the sea, Daivid and Karl made it out but their father parished. they were washed up on a "suposedly" deserted island, but they decover not. They meet many people such as Ciyrus Crabb, Marion, Zippo (Librarin), the Mayor of WaterFall city, and much much more. I recomed this movie because when every thing seems to fall out of place sometimes it's good to take those puzzle pices and put them together, but in a very different way. Remember it took a creative mind to build The Two Towers in New York, what can your mind do? Watch Dinotopia you'll love the dinosaurs. ...Breathe deep

Movie Review: OUTSTANDING!

This miniseries is superb! I live in australia so I never saw it when it first aired, but im lucky enough to have a multiregion dvd player so I orderd it here. I was always a bit skeptical on how it would turn out, thinking that because it was just a miniseries and not a movie, the effects would be lacking, but I was amazed at what has been achieved. The effects are movie blockbuster quality and the story line and acting is great! even for an 18 year old student studying film at university. I cant wait to see it again.
The show gives a real insight into a differnt view on dinosaurs. While jurrasic park may have been dinosaurs with a human buffet, this show lets us see humans and dinosaurs co-exist. Even one of the main characters, Zippo was crazy enough to crack me up.
Overall its a great series, Its basicly a blockbuster movie for television. I recomend it to EVERYONE!.
Movie Review: A great movie

This is a top class, imaginative, well-made adventure story. It's very long, but it held my interest all the way through. The target audience is younger teenagers, but adults will fully enjoy it as well. It has good characters (except for the mayor), and the character development is believable. The plot is clear and consistent. Katie Carr is stunning as Marion. It's not too Disneyfied and sugary, though there is just a touch of that. There is also something you seldom find in movies - a good villain. By that I mean a villain who is not a comic-book bad-guy, but a fully believable and real person who is devious, selfish, ruthless, and always distorting the truth, yet manages to be almost likeable in his own way. The production is beautifully detailed, but characters and plot always take precedence over the computer graphics - the way it should be. Highly recommended.
