Movie Review: Devdas is amazing but .....

I love the movie very much!The customes, the monuments, the dances the songs, the perfomances, Everythings looks gorgeous and lavish in this movie but why the dvd was released under Eros? I thought it was released under yashraj banner. Devdas is very beautiful movie but the disc is stink! The most stupid thing on disc 2 which contained endless trailer. The making also was so so. there is no interview with other crew and no photo gallery.There is nothing much that I've expected. The producer or the director shouldn't let the movie to be release on Eros. Devdas is the best example for Indian movie but releasing under Eros makes the movie spoiled! 5 star for the movie but for the disc, 0 star!Movie Review: Bollywood Gold Mine

To call 'Devdas' a lavish production is the understatement of the decade. This is the epitome of 'over the top'. However, all is not materialistic. The narrative is well told, the music is excellent and the cultural information conveyed is extensive indeed. Westerners are likely to find that the narrative takes a long time to move forward, but in this case patience is rewarded. Another slight problem for me: the 2 lead actresses look similar, both breathtakingly beautiful. But if you care to see one recent Bollywood film, this is a good choice. I was very disappointed by the quality of this DVD. I first ordered this movie off of ebay, but recently I lost it. I thought I'd left it somewhere, so I bought this because I wanted the extras which the other one didn't have. But thankfully I found the other one, because this copy has terrible resolution.
This movie is a wonderfull movie--something like Shakespeare, Rogers & Hammerstein, and India combined. It's beautiful to watch and has a classic storyline. But the resolution is aweful. Such a shame for such a wonderful movie.

Devdas is a beautiful epic film with amazing costuming, good acting, and incredible pagentry. HOWEVER... do NOT watch this film and expect to walk away smiling. Without giving anything away, it is ultimately a TRAGEDY and a cautionary tale - not a "happy American-style" musical.Movie Review: An indian classic.

I really liked Devdas as an indian classic. Shahrukh Khan performance was outstanding. The production is excellent and the dialogues beautiful. The only detail is that apparently it was recorded with a special light effect I personally do not like.
