Movie Review: Madhuri Dixit..Now I need to go watch all her movies
Summary: 5 Stars
The story is about flawed characters..None of the 3 protagonists had any redeeming values... OK..maybe the courtesan Chandramuki had some. If you are looking for an uplifting story...This is not it. Knock on another door. But then, the world is not all about redeeming characters.
Its a tragedy...but the path to their destruction was delightful to watch.
For me..the movie came alive when Chandramukhi (Madhuri Dixit) was on the screen. By Joe, what an impact she has... She was spectacular and mesmerizing. Her subtle grace..She is a walking poetry ...never seen anything like it. I wish I knew how I can just extract just her portion in this movie and then play it in an endless loop. Including the dances she was in... I'll be a happy man.
I knew the story going in....and yet I enjoyed it.

Devdas is in my mind the greatest movie ever to come out of India. You would have to go back to the musicals of 40's and 50's to see such musicical productions in USA. The color, the dances ,the singing , everything is just beautiful!!! Yes i know you saying a Bollywood film! Yes and i will say again it the best!. I just love it. Aishwarya Rai is one of the most beautiful women on the planet. But Mudhuri is beautiful also. And her smile could melt the world.It is just a great film. It kind of sad but the production of dances and songe keeps it upbeat for the most part.... If you dont have it in your library you need to. Again i give this a 5 star rating. I wish there was a 10. A+ in everyway.....

Movie Review: Celestial music. Breathtaking grandeur. A classic story

I am an Indian Classical Music afficianado, and I am madly in love with the music of the movie. The choreography will sweep you off your feet.
All credit for the movie goes to the female actors - in particular Madhuri - whose radiant beauty is matched by her brilliant acting.
Jackie Shroff is kind of a bore in this movie. And Shah Rukh Khan has the same look which he had in his first movie 'Darr' - he sure is the most overrated actor.
I havent read the original novel, so I am unsure of how true the movie is to the original script. Anyways, I thought the storyline was very cliched. I give this movie five starts for the dance and music, and ofcourse my long time crush Madhuri
Movie Review: Bollywood to equal the best of Hollywood

Bollywood films are hardly seen in Brazil's movie theaters - I remember only one movie, 'Lagaan', to be played in Brazil and just because it was nominated for Best foreign Film. Luckily my wife and I watched 'Devdas' in a special festival sponsored by the Indian Embasssy in Brasília and it was love at the first sight. 'Devdas' is a splendorous movie, from thrilling song&dance numbers to astonishing costumes and sceneries. But the true qualities of the movie are a touching love story and the great performances of big Indian stars such as Ashwarya Rai. If you have never watched a Bollywood movie, this is the best way to keep in touch with the production of a very peculiar and great movie industry.Movie Review: Fantastic movie!!!

This was the first Bollywood movie I had ever seen and I actually saw it for the scholars program at my university. Anyways, although it was long and all in subtitles, you forget that you are reading the dialogue within the first five minutes because you get so caught up in the story. It is a beautiful and very sad love story. I love romance and this was romance at its best. After I saw it I had to buy it. The costumes, music, and dancing were wonderful. A true must have for any fan of romance or Bollywood.
