Movie Reviews of Defying GravityMovie Review: Definitely a KEEPER Summary: 5 Stars
Brought back memories of my college days and coming out. Chilson was very realistic in his role. The pressure he was up against is very typical of the college life or even the coming out period in our lives. Scared to tell anyone, worried that friends/family would disapprove. Chilson had a great friend to rely on with Lange. Handfield, as Pete had a limited role but was firm with his beliefs. The ending was one all of us wish would of happened to us.
Movie Review: A Cathartic Film Summary: 5 Stars
This is a slow film that allows you to explore the complexities of human love. It is a zetetic look into the psyche of a broken heart. Although the acting is somewhat inchoate, it is nonetheless a cathartic film. I found myself in tears at the end. Throughout the film, various characters find their own sense of humanity and love. It is through these discoveries that real love is found. I highly recommend this motion picture.
Movie Review: Defying Gravity (1997) Summary: 5 Stars
The story is very moving, even if unfortunately the two main characters have the chance to be together for very few moments at the beginning and at the end of the movie, the rest of the time Griff is alone, and he has to face his personal life journey. The movie is low budget, but I believe the setting is quite true, very All American Boys and all. Nice role to Pete's parents, wish there are more like them around.
Movie Review: Wonderful Love Story Summary: 5 Stars
Defying Gravity is an amazing well-told story that will ring true for a much broader audience than just the LGBT community. Setting the film in the traditionally homophobic enclaves of the Greek community allows the story to progress in a very realistic fashion. The acting is well-done and believable, even in the emotionally charged moments of the film. I cannot recommend Defying Gravity enough.
Movie Review: Very touching and movin Summary: 5 Stars
This film is a great coming of age story. I see myself as "Griff" trying to come to terms with who I am. This film was very well put together. It really gets at the heart of what is the problem with intolerance in today's society. It also shows how much a friendship can mean to someone when you are trouble. I would highly reccomend this film to everyone.
