Movie Reviews of Dead Ringers

Movie Review: De-synchronization...
Summary: 5 Stars

Director, David Cronenberg (RABID, SCANNERS, THE BROOD, VIDEODROME, THE FLY, SPIDER, A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE, EASTERN PROMISES) has put his trademark touch on another cold, dark tale of madness. In DEAD RINGERS, Jeremy Irons plays identical twins, Beverly and Elliot Mantle. The Mantle brothers share everything in life- their careers, women, habits -everything. All is well until Beverly falls in love with an actress named Claire (Genevieve Bujold from COMA). Claire introduces the twins to something quite unexpected and lethal to their bond. She is the only person to come between them in their entire lives. She has no idea just how destructive this will be. Irons is fantastic as Bev / Elliot. I found myself believing that I was actually watching identical, psychologically-conjoined twins! RINGERS is very subtle and builds slowly, especially for a Cronenberg movie. Watch for those bizarre surgical instruments though! They definitely remind you that you're not far from VIDEODROME territory, and that with Cronenberg as your guide, anything can happen...

Movie Review: Exploring new facets of the horror!
Summary: 5 Stars

In the eighties, three directors fostered his imagination with original proposals around the human psyche; David Lynch, David Cronenberg and Peter Green way; each one of them with a particular style but with resounding and compelling results. The creative universe of David Cronenberg has always settled of weird and mysterious beings at the verge of the insanity or sinisterly immersed into an obscure labyrinth of demons, ruled by abominable designs.

Dead ringers is based on a real story about two twins who share lovers and livings. Irons gives such towering performance that makes the spectator thinks we are in front of two distinct brothers.

It's far to be an easy to follow film but at the end the result is extremely rewarding.

Movie Review: Gyenecological Instruments for operating on mutant women
Summary: 5 Stars

By far this is the best David Cronenberg film ever made! The sheer beauty of the film makes me sit back and think every single time I watch it. The metaphor and mythology of the thing astounds me. Jeremy irons is superb as both Doctors Elliot and Beverly Mantle. His performance is better than any other actor who has played a split role. Getting to the instruments created by the brothers and made by a gifted artist, they are awe inspiring. I have never seen such perfect work in the creation of a prop before. They should be in a museum.

Movie Review: Another David Cronenberg classic
Summary: 5 Stars

I orginally saw this movie back several years ago and have now added it to my horror collection. I got hooked on David Croenberg films back years ago and now seek out his films to see them. I do love the way that they have several twists and turns in the movie and the endings always take a dive into the unbelievable. The endings are always the greatest of any films that I have seen. I do recommend this movie to anyone that loves "twisted movies" that have very twisted plots.

Movie Review: Slow decent into madness
Summary: 5 Stars

Pure gold, took me years to finally see this film even though I'm a huge Cronenberg fan. Jeremy Irons was superb and I find the film interesting and disturbing.
