Movie Review: Great series, very addicting.
Summary: 4 Stars
The only problem I really have with the Dark Shadows DVD collections is the price. At the time I'm writing this, Collection 1 is sitting at $58.98. Of course, I got my first few volumes when the sets were on sale for $28.98. To me that seems like about the right price. I can't see paying much more than $30.00 per volume seeing as how non of the material has been remastered in any way. Aside from the price, this series is very fun. There are interesting characters to be sure, and the twists and turns in the story line will keep you watching and waiting for whatever happens next. The thing to understand is this collection doesn't start out with episode one, but begins with episode 210. The 209 missing episodes are not included with this collection. MPI home video decided to just skip those and start out with the ones that introduce Jonathan Frid as the Vampire, Barnabas Collins. There are probably other reasons they decided to do this, also, such as missing footage, episodes, and what have you. The reason I initially began waching them was for all the Bloopers! It's entertaining to see television show that has little in the way of editing out fumbled lines and bad camera work-and you'll see all of that! These are not edited out. All the mistakes are here to discover. That's another part of the show that makes it fun!
