Movie Review: A GREAT LOVE STORY BROUGHT ABOUT BY A VOLCANO
Summary: 5 Stars
Excellent love stories are hard to find on film.
This is one of the excellent ones.
By-passing any criticism this one of the top love stories with the back-drop of the action of the volcano.
Excellent acting by all even the children - and that dog.
Again, one of the few men that can portray emotion with out have to act it out - gentleness, tenderness, emotion.
Action is great - whew! I could even smell the sulphur.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED --- definitely a keeper!
Movie Review: I LOVED the movie, but. . .

I am sure it is just that I am partial to the Northwest and most movies of any quality at all I will enjoy if it has plenty of that great northwest outdoors.
I have grown up around many lakes and the use of boats of all kinds on those scenic lakes. In thinking back I cannot remember anyone who did not carry a set of oars in the boat no matter what kind of engine was pushing it.
When the fins dissolved the first thing I thought of was "Where the ____ are the oars???"

Dante's Peak isn't just a mindless, blow-em-up extravaganza like Con Air. It's a smart, thrilling, and interesting masterpiece of state-of-the-art FX and story telling. The DVD is beautiful, with the 2.35 picture glorious in color. The sound is dynamic and thundering. To watch this film without widescreen and surround sound is like chopping off parts of a great painting and putting it behind smudged glass. Watching Dante's Peake is like watching the Wizard of Oz. People snuggle down on the couch with a batch of popcorn and watch at least once or twice a year. It is a simple enjoyable movie plot about a town in denial, a single mother with children who falls in love with the geologist come to save them all. There are funny, romantic, and scary scenes and even though we memorized the plot, our hearts still speed up at the frightening parts.Movie Review: The featurette alone is worth the price of the DVD

The making of... featurette was worth the price of the DVD. It was well made and informative. The commentary was excellent as well. I had already owned a laser disk copy of this film when I purchased it which was well done in terms of visual and audio so purchasing the DVD definitely gave me value adds in terms of the extras.
The film itself is well done if you like drama and action thrills.
