Movie Reviews of Dante's Peak - Collector's EditionMovie Review: Dante's Peak will Blow You Away!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I saw this movie in my science class for our unit and this movie was awesome! It begins with a volcano erupting and killing a scientists wife. But then he returns to the town of Dante's peak where it is being named 2nd best place on Earth to live. But the fun turns to terror when the huge volcano erupts, and the town must flee before the final pyroclastic cloud eruption wipes them all out. Pierce Brosnan and Linda Hamilton are the two main people in the movie, in which Pierce and Linda, along with Linda's two kids and their grandma must escape the town. The movie is a little scary, with chases, explosions, and more. But if you like disaster movies like "Twister" then DANTE'S PEAK will blow you away!! The movie is PG-13 for violence/gore/peril.
Movie Review: Memories from a disaster film Summary: 5 Stars
Having been on a lake in Eastern Washington when the ash clouds rolled in, I can say that this film brought alot of memories back to me. I can simply say that the scenes dealing with ash, water, and mud are very well done and very realistic(No, I do not think a 4x4 can drive on lava!). We were then stranded on a highway with NO visibility, choking, and our engine dead from the ash. The film captures that very well. Also, as a professional offroad instructor, it was great to see a film deal with at least some aspects of real four wheel driving. This is a fun action movie regardless, but the fact that they researched volcanoes and included realistic special effects puts this high on my movie list. As I said, it certainly brings back memories!
Movie Review: great movie no matter what the critics say Summary: 5 Stars
I don't see how anybody could give this movie a poor rating. I thought it looked like it wouldn't be that good when I saw the previews, but then it came on Cable TV a few months later and I was bored so I watched it. After watching it, I started to tell all of my friends and my family to watch it cause it was awesome. And it is awesome, it has GREAT special effects, good acting, and great suspense. Out of all the special effects movies that came out in 1997, I liked Dante's Peak better than any of them. It's a lot better than Volcano, which was somewhat a clone of Dante's Peak. If you're like me and you like action movies with great special effects, i would recommend picking this one up today!
Movie Review: Truly amazing! Summary: 5 Stars
The decade is almost over. I think Dante's Peak is one of two of the best natural disaster movies of the 90s. The other, of course, is Twister. The movie is packed with awesome visual effects. The DVD is packed with great features especially a one hour documentary about the making of the movie. Not only the movie is entertaining, it has its educational rewards, too. Pierce Brosnan and the other scientists portrayed true life professionals about volcanos--what the signs are for an erruption and the do's & don'ts during the erruptions just like what Pierce had said to the kids in their escape "DON'T LOOK BACK". This movie is great for the whole family to enjoy.
Movie Review: Dante's Peak Summary: 5 Stars
In 1997 there were two eagerly anticipated volcano movies released. Dante's Peak was more of a blockbuster hit, with more entertainment value, but not very accurate from a geologist's standpoint.
Had it been based on reality instead of Hollywood, they all would have died early in the movie. You can't drive through lava. Since it can get up to 2000 degrees, the vehicle would have perished immediately. I also don't know many metal objects like a small boat that can survive direct contact with acid elements and remain floating indefinitely.
With all that said it was a good entertaining movie. Pierce Brosnan is always a must see!
