Movie Review: More than a comedy
Summary: 5 Stars
This is a very poignent and touching love story. You might expect something different with Steve Carell but he shows an ability in this film to be funny AND tender. Juliette Binoche is a stunning actress and she seems to raise the game of everyone else in the cast to a very high level. It's a beautiful story about families, love, and loss.
I bought the DVD "Used, like new" on Amazon for $5.99. It came relatively quickly and like new, as advertised. That's a great deal for such a movie.
Movie Review: Refreshing and humorous movie

I'm probably giving it an extra star but it is a breath of fresh air.
Exceptionally well-paced look at parenting and love, in a humourous extended family vacation set at the grandparents house. Dan struggles to communicate values and patience to his adolescent girls while falling head over heels in love to an unavailable woman. Several scenes and plot twists are manipulated for the sake of the story, but overall it's a refreshing and smart movie for all ages. Diane Wiest is outstanding as always as well.

First, Steve Carrell. Next, Juliette Binoche. Then, Emily Blunt. Finally, Dane Cook. Can you say "chemistry?" I LOVED this film. I rarely buy DVD's cause I rarely watch movies twice, but this one I'm buyin'! Kisses to the whole cast, the director, and especially those four charismatic, totally adorable actors. I was sitting around with nothing to do, feeling lousy, decided to give this one "a chance." Changed my attitude, my whole day for the better. An awesome flick. My wife and I caught it on a whim, and loved it. We will definitely purchase it. Dan in Real Life will bring back memories of you of great family gatherings, feeling very real, and very true. But moreso than this, Dan in Real Life will break your heart, and mend it again with the fantastic chemistry between Steve Carell and Juliette Binoche. The rich scenario played on a stage of a rich culture takes us to a complicated romantic situation, to a deep and powerful love which unfortunately is impossible due to the fact that it must face boundaries, the ones built by love of a different kind.
I rented "Dan in Real Life" with having a mysterious doubt in my mind, but it turned out to be one of the best movies I have ever seen. Then, I surprised myself when I ended up watching it six times in a week only.
